Wrotham Park to Laura

Can anyone tell me if the road from Palmerville to Laura through Maytown is accessible (or likely to be accessible in the future). I'm currently planning a trip for my 4WD club from Canberra for mid 2012 and am hoping to take this route.

There's been a bit of chat in the forum of late about that track, it is supposed to be open.
Maybe check with Cooktown council, they may be able to give you more definate info.
Alternatively, speak to the rangers at Chillagoe, I've found them to be really helpful in the past.

Thanks Nedly...yeah agree that the Chillagoe rangers are excellent to deal with. They also put me in contact with Howard at Mt Mulgrave Stn the last time I was up that way. Will also check with Cook shire.

Chatting today to one of the tag tour operators, she came through south to north in the last week without drama. Well, one cv gone... Apparently they are doing large work on the roads, there is an eclipse next yer where Maytown is the best spot in the world to view, so they are upgrading roads to cope. I will beading north to south in the next couple of weeks, so will update then. She recommended no trailers though.
