A reminder for those who are heading through.
The Laura Cultural festival is on this year (happens every second year). Dates 22nd - 24th June. Website is: http://www.laurafestival.tv/
If you miss the festival whilst you're on your way through the Cape then be sure to stop at the Quinkan Cultural Centre in Laura. You can get a cold drink, hot coffee, take a toilet stop ... you can even look around at the displays. A lot of the photography inside was done by Kerry Trapnell, the same fella who took the front cover image for the magazine.
The displays give a brief history of the indigenous culture plus the mining and cattle industry in the region. Well worth a look.
Oh... the Laura rodeo and races is also on the same weekend as the Dance Festival. So if you're nearby, then Laura is going to be the place for a Cape experience.
