Hi all,
Thought I would ask the question knowing full well that most fishos spend a lifetime learning and cant write it all down in a short transcript. But here I go anyway. I am heading up to Weipa and hiring a boat for about 5 days and would like some tips on where to go for a Barra, Mackeral and Fingermark. Looks like I will camp at Pennefeather river after reading some previous posts. Are there any particular spots I should try in particular. I am hoping it is possible to also fish from the beach. Any help will be appreciated. Also heading to seisa without a boat so any tips on land based spots would also be good.
cheers

Hi Stolly
Mate if i tell you my spots i will have to kill you :)
For Barra try creek mouths/Gutter on the last of he run out and the start of the in coming tide with live baits or lures
Finger mark in the creeks any deep hole most of the time there on the corners or freshly fallen mangroves .Out side any rocky out crop
Use plastics or squid
As for Mackeral The only place i would go in the hire boats would be out to the Fare way lead As the boats arnt that big!
Or IF you want to find out where i fish you can charter me :)

Thanks Jim,
I will get back to you on the charter. The rest of my group is already in Cooktown but by the time I catch them at Musgrave I will discuss a day trip.

Great news Bat,
Nice to hear you can get out by yourself with the good weather and cooperative fish. Wish I was there with you mate.
Have fun.

Hmmmmm......I always wondered what Fishing Guide's do on their day's off....They go FISHING !!
Sounds like great fun Bat....I wish the Mac's were on the chew when I was up there 6 weeks ago! Anyway, it confirms my plans for a mid-late August trip in 2012 ! Good the see that the wind has dropped down a tad also.
Yes, I'm with Ant....post up some photo's !
Cheers

When guides go fishing on days off its call researce well thats what my Accountant tells me any way!
The MACKS are going of here as well Ive been testing some new Jig rods From LJ custom rods and they are ball tearers they stop the Macks inthere tracks which is what we need here because of the sharks !
Bat how are the sharks up your way
