JustCruzn,

I'm pretty sure you will find that they are not allowed to be used in National Parks. Most National Park areas either supply firewood for designated camp areas, or expect that you collect it & carry it in from outside the National Park, as all timber, live or dead, is "protected".

I haven't read anywhere that they are banned in any of the Aboriginal Land areas.

I always carry one, which we use for trail clearing & firewood collection. Certainly beats cutting up a "Yarning Log" with a bow saw !

Cheers

I think Nedly has the latest info on this from last years Croc Crew adventure.

He'll be along soon for sure!

Thanks Loxsmith, your faith in me is ............ worrying.
Your memory's good though, I'd forgotten I had included that.

Justcruzin,
The only limitation I'm aware of is for National Parks.
Last time I looked you weren't even supposed to carry a chainsaw through a Nat. Park unless you had the bit of paper that certified you had been trained in its correct use etc.
I haven't taken one to the Cape yet, I figure by leaving it at home I can fit more lures in.

I normally take a drag chain, easier to pack and hassle free. Multi purpose and gets you out of most binds!

I haven't needed a chain saw any trip I've taken to the Cape.
Probably just as well, because I wasn't carrying one anyway
