2010 Fuel Prices ????

Hey all,

Not that it will make ANY difference to where we go while up in the Cape this year (24 day's before leaving), but I would be interested to know what the current fuel prices are up in the Cape currently.

Anybody??

Bamaga is currently on $1.95 for diesel and $2.05 for unleaded.

Not sure if we will get that far up this trip. Definately going as far as Vrilya Point for a few days, but am hoping to spend a bit of time down around Kowanyama & Cape Melville this trip.

2 years ago I remember Bamaga was about $2.35/litre, and we were paying $1.65 or so down here in Sydney, a 70c/ltr difference.

I just filled up down here for $1.28/ltr, so that looks pretty comparable again.

As I said, prices don't make one iota of difference as to where we go, just good to have a bit of an idea, and some of the other punters on here can budget accordingly.

Yes, we are leaving Sydney on 25th June, meeting up with the rest of my gang at Cooktown, then spending the next few weeks tripping around.

Just keep a look out for a really dirty 80 series, with a Cape Yorker sign on the windscreen, and 2 screaming kids in the back.

That sounds exactly like mine exact i have only the one kid at the moment. Let me know the dates if you can that you are Vrilya Point.

I would expect that we will be at Vrilya Point from Weds 7/7 to Sun 11/7.

Depending on how many people are there, we may be camping anywhere from the top creek down to the Cotterill River.

I'm travelling with a white Troopy and a white Pajero if you are passing....

Hi all,

Just back from Trip No 11 to Cape York since 1987.

Other than a few of the problems associated with travelling during the School Holiday period, another great trip with many great memories.

I made a note of Deisel fuel prices throughout most of the Cape, which you could use as a guide. Some prices changed by as much as 5cpl once the School Holidays (in Qld) finished.....funny that ! Unleaded prices were normally a few cpl extra in most locations.

Lakeland - 29/6 $1.43 but down to $1.38 on 17/7 !
Laura - $1.49 > $1.56 (depending which of the 2 Servo's you go to) !
Hann River - $1.55
Musgrave - $1.62
Coen - $1.56
Archer River - $1.81
Weipa - $1.52.9
Bramwell - $1.90.2
Jardine Ferry - $1.90
Cooktown - $1.32.9
Lions Den - $1.49.9
