My Landcruiser is pretty much stock, however I have built these drawers in the back for the cape trip. They hold all our kitchen gear and food and some basic recovery gear.
Just the shot for short overnight stops or to boil the billy on the side of the road. The stove lifts out of the second draw and clips onto the Kaymar wheel carrier.
The drawers are made from 12mm ply and 100kg drawer runners. Bit noisy at the moment so looks like more carpet is needed. Tried them out last weekend up the beach and they were great for catering back at camp and for a BBQ on the beach.

Nice work Geoff,
Wish I was half as handy as that!!!!
Sure beats throwing everything into plastic bins and hoping it makes it there and back.

I'm pretty happy with them for camping in the South East. Just wonder how they will handle the cape roads.
The only experience I have with serious gravel roads is a trip through the Northern Territory where I was happy sitting on 80ks and the locals roared past at 120.
Guess I'll just have to work out the correct speed to level out the bumps.
Hopefully the main roads will be graded by the time we get there.

I can appreciate the amount of time you have put in to making that setup, well done

Looks very classy, better than a store bought job.
Bit of advice, if you need to get recovery gear it's probably because you're stuck in something.
Make sure you're gear is easy to access, not that you'll need it, just good insurance.

On the other hand, this set up has allowed the beer to be readily accessable, which would make the recovery gear no where near as important.
Good set up!!

Nice rig mate. Keen to see some shots of it up in the Cape.

Just back from the Cape and a had a wonderful adventure, the vehicle went well with no punctures or breakdowns. (did tighten up the odd screw here and there)
Favourite Camp: Archer River
Favourite Site: The Falls
Best Surprise: Thusrday Island
Best Shop: The Croc Shop
Biggest disappointment: The condition of the Somerset Graves. Don't know who the local councillor is but he obviously doesn't visit there often. Good luck getting voted back in.
