Making Reservations

G'day All,

I am new to the forum and mighty glad I found it. I am planning my trip to the tip in late May/Early June this year. I first visited the cape as a 15 year old in 1985 in a Mercedes Unimog with AAT Kings - what a magic place! I am really looking forward to driving it myself this time, see some favourite spots and see what has changd - which is much from what I can tell.

Anyway, what I would like to know is do I need to make reservations now for some of the campgrounds at the tip (Seisia, Loyalty, Punsand, etc)? I plan to bush camp everywhere else.

If anyone else is heading up at that time I would be happy to link up along the way and perhaps assist each other through some of the crossings!!!

Hi Evan,

We are going up at around the same time and I have spoken to a couple of the Parks and they do recommend booking early for a good spot.

I'll speak to you closer to the trip and we might catch up along the road.

typically you only require bookings in the peak season up here, ie june/july school holidays. i don't know when they fall in 2010 but usually its mid june....and i start pulling my hair out!!!

We're leaving Bris 21st May, a few days in Cooktown with relatives then heading up so probably will be on the track around the same time.

I may contact closer to the time to exchange numbers

They might be a bit slow in replying as i know Loyalty and Punsand Bay are shut down until April. Not sure about Seisia. I would expect you would get a reply within the week though as there will be someone there handling bookings.
