Well Batesy, where is it, has it made the shelves yet?
Had a look in a couple of bookshops on the weekend and couldn't find it.
I've just about finished reading the 2009 edition of Cape Yorker and will need something to read over the festive break.
Where can I find a copy of The Dieman's Collective ?

Very strange... I posted a reply to this thread yesterday and now it's not here. Maybe I don't know how to use this forum properly!

Anyway, to answer you, Nedly... I can't find the friggin book anywhere either. Let's just say that I operate on the same dubious and somewhat elastic publishing schedule as the bloke that runs Cape Yorker Magazine!

You will see a published title by Christmas ... just not sure which Christmas.

Unfortunately I'm one of those obsessive/compulsive type writer people. At day's end everything I type looks absolutely bloody brilliant and I'm ecstatic, but come morning it all reads like crap and I get more depressed than a broken-legged tourist up the tip. The solution is to obsess over everything I wrote the previous day... the following day. This is not a recommended process by all accounts... in fact it is really bloody stupid and if you do it for several weeks straight you can almost simulate time travel... backwards. Thus my book is getting shorter day by day. If I keep this up I may be the first author who has successfully written a complete novel over 5 years with little more than a title page to show for it!

This may go some way to explain way the post I wrote yesterday didn't show up. Maybe I didn't write this post yesterday ... maybe today is yesterday ... and I have to wait til tomorrow to read it?

Boy, am I confused. I really have to stop writing books ... or stop drinking rum.

Anyway, I'll be singing my own praises here when the book is finally out in the shops. You're sure to hear me from Brisbane.

Obviously you need to write more and read less.
I suppose we'll have to wait until you're happy with the end result, which by the sounds of it could be some time off.
I suppoae I'll just have to start reading Cattle in the Blood or something.

BTW, the only broken legged tourist I saw on the Cape wasn't depressed, just happy to be in paradise once again.

Anyway, thanks for the update, I won't hold my breath :)
Maybe you need a proof reader.
