It's a sad day here, the scooter has been sold so I'll have to change my profile picture.

The good thing is I now have money to spend on the cruiser. I've just bought new tyres and shock absorbers.

Question is what else is important, maybe a winch, plastic water tank, drawers, awning.

Now that the mid life crisis is over I also have two custom Harleys for sale one runs a 124 cubic inch engine the other a 74 cubic inch engine. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll send the details.

Now that question opens a can of worms.

Have to first ask what sort of 4wdriving you are into, touring or a bit harder?

What sort of comforts to you like when out camping? Fridge or esky etc

What else is on the vehicle now, snorkel, Winch or bullbar, rear/tow bar etc ?

We generally camp on the beach or in the National Parks/Forestry areas close to Brisbane, but are heading to the Cape next June.
Not into hard 4 W driving, but don't want to get stuck when out exploring.
A snorkel will be on the list.
We have a Waeco 50l fridge and I'd like to set up some kitchen drawers and a fridge slider at the back with a quick awning for the 1 night stops. I've seen plenty of side awnings but I'm trying to think of a way to have a decent size awning out the back.

Well sounds like you want to set up as a decent tourer.

An 80 series is a good start, things to put on / in,
Snorkel,
Dual battery set up with isolator to run fridge and other accessories,
Draws with at least a fridge slider and possibly a drop down fridge slider,

Winch of some sort either electric vehicle mounted or at least a good quality hand winch.

A newish product on the scene is a Foxwing Awning from Oz Tent, but not cheap. Am thinking of this myself.

Long Range Tank (if it hasn't already got one.)

Quality Roof Rack/basket if you have a lot of gear and need the back seats to sit on.

That's a start.

Thanks Dingo,

The fridge slide and dual battery will go in for sure.

The bat wing looks ok, however I was looking for something a bit smaller.

I'll keep looking.

I thought it was a bit large as well the first time I seen one but then looked at the specs and it only goes approx 2m past the vehilce on the side and back, so I put up a small tarp with the outside edge 2.2m from the vehicle and it isn't that much room really. So it isn't as big as it looks but the price is up there.

gunyah awnings which I normally recomend has gone out of business, IMHO they were the best you could get.

plan your kit around your itenerary, if you are doing quick stops dont use toomuch or you will spend all your time setting up and packing up .

a tent like these is under 500 and sets up in 4 mninutes http://www.oztrail.com.au/canvas-product-range/oztrail-tourer-tents/CTT-09-B.php

I've got the tyres, shockies and snorkel sorted and we bought a Black Wolf 300 lite tent, which takes a few minutes to set up.

I'm still looking for an awning which is quick to set up.

I've come up with a few different designs to build a draw system in the back incorporating a fridge and water tank.

I'll get some photos as I go.

I have an original Southern Cross Canvas version of that tent and it has served me well. It was very expensive, about $1100 10 years ago but well worth it. I normally have it set and I am sitting down to a cold beer while the others are still knocking in the many pegs they need to keep their shelters up just overnight.

Things are going well with the accessories, I have new shockies and the tyres are in the shed ready to be fitted.

Here is a photo of the rear drawers and fridge cabinet, The fridge slide and bottom draw just need to be screwewd in. Hope the corrugations don't rattle it to death. Suppose it will make good firewood anyway.

I use an OZtent RV1 and do the same thing. Once the bag is on the ground I can be sitting back watching others within 7 min and that includes 2 pegs so it doesn't blow away, sleeping gear, a chair and a drink.
The tent itself is out and up with pegs in within 2 min.

Yep the OZ tents are great got one in 1997 and still going strong
You dont even have to peg them down for a over nite stay {if not windy}
