I'm about to book our camping sites for next year and wondered which of these two places are better, Loyalty Beach or Punsand Bay.

We plan to stay for a week and do the usual exploring, fishing and visiting TI.

Thanks

If you have young kids , Punsand Bay as there is a pool for them to swim in, in safety and you can watch them from the bar.

Otherwise take your pick.

Punsand Bay is a top spot, there's the pool and restaurant/bar to watch them from.
You camp just back from the beach.
There can be good fishing off the beach in front of your camp and also from the headland a short distance down the beach.
Some of the amenities could do with a coat of paint+ though, if you get my drift.
It's well positioned to explore the very tip, Somerset etc, though a bit of a hike to get to the war relics.

Loyalty Beach is close enough to the Seisia wharf and shopping centre to allow you to walk there.
I haven't stayed there yet but I'm told it can be rewarding fishing the coffee rock near the campground.
Again, you camp just off the beach and the amenities seem to be quite good.
Exploring the war relics, Bamaga, Muttee Heads, Injinoo etc is easy from here.
This place also has a restaurant/bar but no pool. I have eaten here, the restaurant food is good and the drinks were reasonable priced.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm I see the Seisia park dosnt get a itsy bitsy plug???
Les,you hideing this as a secret spot?
Could not fault it...walk to the jetty and ferry, also the supermaket and the chopper lands next to your awning to whip you away...

You're correct Brigalow, Seisia is a good park, in my opinion the beach front shelters make it better than the other two, but that's just my opinion.
It's not a secret spot, my 'secret spots' up there will remain just that, secret.

All three are just as good as each other , Siesia Holiday Park is very close to everything to walk to.
As I said if kids are involved Punsand Bay is the go for the pool. After 2 weeks or more on the road and not being able to swim in 3/4 of the place around kids find the pool a good trade off for other things.

Thanks guys,
I can't make up my mind now, we might just have to stay for a week at each Park.
Seisa sounds good except for the crowds, do you think the crowds will be ok in early June.

It all depends on the year but there is a good chance Seisia will be busy. They are in the process of upgrading the overflow are atm.

I did my first trip to the cape last year and can not wait to get back up there.

We stayed at Punsand Bay and loved it. We were going to stay 3 nights but ended up staying 5 from memory.

The toilets and showers could do with an upgrade but they served their purpose. We found it nice and quiet with very few people staying there in July.

The only downside was that it is a bit of a drive to the shops etc but if you stock up before you head out there you should be fine.

By the way when booking ask for one of the beach side camp sites. Nothing better than sitting at camp in the afternoon looking out over the water with a beer in hand.

I've gone and made myself depressed now thinking about it. Sitting here is the office sucks.

Thanks Stew,

Unfortunately we're back in Brisbane now and ended up staying at Loyalty Beach which had great facilities, but next time I think we'll try Punsand Bay, the beach and the view looked better.

Until next time.

road is awesome...at the moment. it has just been bladed. the wet will trash it, but it should be graded again in may. if so, you won't have a drama. big kedron vans etc have been pulling in here for the last 2 yrs. hope that helps, check in again in may!
cheers
