One of the high lights of the "tagalong 2009 croc crews" would have to be another visit to Thursday Island, the place always has something new happening every time we seem to step ashore..
This time we happen to be able to see the locals and kids from visiting island perform in island costumes...celebrating Naidoc... the kids are unbelivable with there great smiles and endless energy.
If any readers get a chance to visit TI when there celebrating, grab it and dont miss the chance.:)

Its a pleasure...the guy dancing was doing the crocodile dance...very agro and very passionate...hate to meet him on a dark night.

Was gonna touch base with you this week but got called away sunday to Fraser Island for a chat with the Kingfisher group...dam this Eurong beachresort is a step up from the tent on the cape ;)
Anyway we are in luck and snagged a deal to services there 60 odd empoyees and 1/4 mill guests per year...there go's my retirement...bloody things we do for kids...
Looks like more time in River heads than home in Rocky comming up...but promise that mugachino is gonna happen.:)
Can't go anywhere 'till Friday this week anyway , so no worries. We'll catch up one of these days,

I hope so...
Did I read somewhere here you mentioning Cape Trib?
Geez,I still have vivid memories of the dozers pushing the track from Daintree to Bloomfield....hell it had to be early to mid eighties?...with greenies and cops clashing and Joh in the thick of it....still in hind sight the road is well used and if I remember right it was Joh who listed the area as world heritage or such...
Then I suppose you would have or could have been a wild child of Cedar Bay?I hear a lot of that crown moved to Portland road and even Temple bay?
Has Ant approach you about your adventures?geez it would make interesting reading in a future copy of the Cape yorker...
I drove a Tin-miner from the Pascoe to Cairns one year. Late '84 I think. Not so much a child, I was 43 at the time. [He didn't have a licence.] Also, the clutch wasn't working properly in the Landrover, so he still had to change gear for me sometimes, from the passenger seat.
We came over the Bloomfield track when it was still VERY new. I wouldn't drive over that, so he had to take it to the top. They really made a mess doing that track.
And yes, I did meet a couple of the original Cedar Bay mob at Portland Roads.
Cheers,
xina.

Wowww thats what you call a hairymary sort of a trip...one that sticks in the old grey matter... hope the guy shouted you a drink or seven for the near death experience?
I remember in the eighties when the dirt started at the Daintree ferry and ended at main street Cooktown...one trip we hit rain right through the track and it was like mush...then just when you think that things couldna got worse, there popped up the Bloomfield river running around three foot deep and looking like rapids...
One of my mates wife had to dive behind the trucks to change her daks after wetting them...we werent too sure if it was from comming down the mountain or the sight of the Bloomfield (this was before the ford was put down)we still have a giggle about it...
"Wid child "was a term of enderment ...well,of a person who did there own thing and was not controlled by the thought police it was a period when the good old govenment started to find computers the beginning of the end and wanted to know everything about people...like the in's and outs of a ducks bum.
Arrr yes,luv ya stories and I hope the tin miner made a fortune...because a trip like that needs a just reward....karma?

Hi Barney,
There were quite a few actually Barney. I was the newcomer. Don't have time tonight, and I'm going away for the weekend, so if you have any specific questions, fire away, and I'll do my best when I come back.

GOOD LOOKING TALL BLOKE ????????????????
Are there two users with the same name on this site?
Certainly doesn't describe the Loxsmith I've met.
Well, the tall part is true I suppose but not sure about the other :)

I conceded that you are tall.
A good steak is always welcome, might have to check this place out.
The leg is nearly there now, cast came off on Friday so getting around is much easier. Give it a week and it should all be as good as new.

The boss lady had her first drive of the new troopy after that little session, cause I wasn't capable! We left there about 7pm, full of steak, prawns, beer and rum. She liked the clutch in the new truck, she only had to use 1 leg for this one.
