Okay guys,
Here's the pics of the southern section of the OTL - from Bramwell Junction through to the Bypass intersection (70km).
I have no idea how what the northern section is like, but judging by the lack of water in the southern section it should all be fine.
There was bugger all water in the crossings.
1. First creek - Palm Creek. No water.
2 Approach to South Alice Creek proper.
3. Entry into South Alice. Note hole. Skirt to the right of this.
4. Do the smart thing - go walkies to find the right spot.

Someone drowned their non-snorkled Rodeo on the OTL a few weeks ago, we're not sure where it happened, but this hole could have been the culprit.
It's not serious deep, just enough to make you notice. Note: This cruiser has 35 inch tyres, suspension lift and body lift.
If you have a snorkle and walk the creek, you'll be all right.

What kind of vehicle can tame Gunshot...?
A telstra bulldozer ...
Here's the result.

Cockatoo creek...
It's okay, but walk it anyway to see if there are any holes/rocks.

I think this is Sailor Creek.
Not sure though.
Crossing was fine.

For those of you who are going to head from Weipa across through Batavia ... Cox Creek is fine. However, Moonlight is catching a few people out on the exit. Apparently they are winching out.
No problem for Guy's big Red beast though.

Sorry I couldn't update on the northern section - we didn't have time.

Oh, forgot to add... the other little creeks in between the ones listed above, are all fine.
Also, the bypass road is fine. A bit choppy here and there. There's also a grader and roller working just north of Bramwell.

Would the original Gunshot please step forward!
It seems there are that many side tracks now the creek must just about be filled in.
Great shots Batesy, thanks.
Though I expect what water there is now will be just about gone by the time we get up there.

Nedly, you guys should still find water, but I doubt it will be giving you any problems. Nolan's will still have a fair amount. Canal can still be tricky if you pick out a hole to drop a wheel in.
You shouldn't be drowning in them though.

Disapointing really wasn't it we should have been up there 3-4 weeks ago bugger next year.
Thanks a lot for the info boys. Its great getting first hand info.
Can't beleive they are rooting around gunshot. they shouldnt be aloud to touch that part of the track. Should be made as a heritage listing

Camp where you want Yoyo... you'll see the popular spots when you go through. Usually the flat areas near the creeks.
My suggestion is the spot just after crossing Bertie Creek or Canal Creek up in the northern section.
Anybody else got any favourites?

Gday Kingchevy,
as posted here a few times I am part of the group of Suzi's heading up next weekend. I have seen the NASTY pic of the Vitara broken axle housing a number of times. Did you see this one up there ? The housing on mine looks quite solid, maybe it was a one of ! we hope so! I have reinforced the shock mounts but thats all. Otherwise I am running a 4" suspension lift, 2" body lift, dual lockers, custom bars and STT tyres, I should be ok .. ?

G'day dickzook, welcome to the forum, how do you like the STT's, have you done many k's on them and do they have any problems like the ST's ripping lugs off etc?, I'm tossing up between a set of these and Mickey Thompson MTZ's.
Cheers, Dipmaker.

Thanks
bugger all K's yet as we just fitted them for the Cape trip. However they are VERY good on road, much better than expected and VERY quite for muds. I was told they would be and didnt believe it.. It's true. This was a bonus as its a daily driver for the wife ! Also very grippy in the wet, my Wrangler ATR's were good but these are better. A must do is rotate front to back every 5000 to reduce effect of scalloping. Will do a decent report after the trip!

Tell you the truth I have not heard of this happening to a vitara but that doesn't mean it isn't a fault but just make sure you take it easy and you shouldn't have a drama mate.
