Hi Guys,

I need a trailer to make the cape trip, I don't like carrying fuel etc on the roof and I only have the standard tank on the cruiser and a 90 l LPG tank which is not much good past cooktown.

Apart from a solid chassis, what parts are likely to fail, springs, bearings etc. I'd like to build a trailer which is small and light. (maybe 4 feet X 4 feet). I understand that corrugations are the main enemy.

Regards
Geoff

I generally find that with the trailers i have had up here, you need to have a strong drawbar as sometimes these tend to crack. Also, make sure the point where your axle is fixed to the trailer is beefed up. Other than that, all the usual, good shocks and springs and you cant go wrong. Dont ask me for brands though as we have only had home made jobbies.

believe me you dont want a 4ft x4ft trailer, hard to see and a pain to back.
a good 6x4 is hard to beat.

cheers

I agree with that. I hate reversing small trailers and love the larger ones. Easier to manouver.

I have a 6X4 trailer made by Wilkinson Springs and it has made a few trips up so far. Great trailer.
