Be aware Had a 140hp for 2 years no problems good motor put 3800 hrs on it
As i change my motor every 2 season for safety reasons
(a good charter operator) I decided to stay with Suzuki I opted for 175HP
It was a good move the extra pony's made the boat and saved fuel !!
Any Way back to the problem I put 700 hr on it not even 1 season and noticed Water in the oil It had cracked the head 4 time under the valves !!
When we looked at the computer read out there was no over heats , oil pres drops nothing ,To this date they cant tell me what has happened they said bye the read out i had done nothing wrong
I look after my motors as they are my lively hood i EVEN CHANGE THE OILS EVERY 50 HRS INSTEAD OF THE 100 HRS ,THAT IS IN THE BOOK
SUZKI didn't want to no about it if it wasn't for the boys at Boat scene going to Battle for me I would have had to get a new motor
WHICH IN HINE STIEGHT would of been a cheaper option for me AS IT HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS in the busy season and still its not fixed, still got to the 7th September to wait. (Suzuki didn't want to pay the warranty and dragged it out)
So any way if you are looking at a new motor this may give you something to think about The after sale service SUCKS !!
This has been a expensive lesson if i new i was going to get Jerked around i would of got a new motor straight up
Once again Boat Scene where great
Well that's my spit for the day

Jim,
I hope you get to the bottom of this problem soon mate. Couldn't have happened at worse time.

Good to hear that the team at Boat Scene have been helpful. I have always found them very good to deal with. Good service goes a long way in my books.

Mate the cost of a service was $650 to $900
The 175 hold 8.5 lts of oil , filter are about $42
Mate i think over all the 175 is a good motor I just got a lemon which all brands have !! (just a let down after sale service)
Mate it is excellent on fuel Between 1.2/1.5 miles a ltr on around 4000 rpm on my boat that's about 28 to 30 knt running a 22inch 4 blade
Dave Newman put 1 one at the same time He had a problem with the motor revving high when started and then stalling
The problem was lose battery cables the fuel injection needs full constant volts
Hes had no other problem with hes 175 Want to no more give me a call 0427968333 Jim
