If your planning this crossing this year stick to the far right (heading towards the Jardine). My poor Patrol got an unexpected interior wash. We walked across, only waist height, felt good under foot but when doing the crossing it became apparent that if u drive the middle there is a firmish laver on top and something resembeling quicksand underneath.

When we got out there was another fella there drying out his stuff.

Anyone else have any problems with this one?

I got my cruiser stuck there in May while filming a DVD. There was a easier route which was on the Eastern side of the crossing. The thing that stuffed me up was that the entry and departure angle was really steep and the sand soft. Since i left the information centre earlier this year i have been out of the loop and have not heard much about road conditions and such.

Just thought I'd give people a heads up. Apart from me and the other fella who was drying out his rig on the other side I was told quite a few stories of drowned cars from other travelers due to this crossing. As soon as I rocked up to the mechanic with a dripping car he asked how I liked Nolen's. All the other people I spoke to who had made it over without trouble had said they had spoken with people who advised to stay away from the middle. Just thought there might be some other poor buggers out there. We could have started a Nolens support group ;o).

After i got out of Nolan's and was driving along i could hear water sloshing around. It was trapped in the door and i had to pull the plugs out and drain it. This can also be a nice place for rust to start so remember to check it.

I just got back home today after 5 week round trip but whilst up there spent about an Hour watching cars go through in 45 minutes we saw 3 cars get stuck and one was on the other side trying to dry out from just before we got there we saw him a couple of days later at after being towed to Loyalty Beach waiting to find out why his defender wouldn't go ( and not just because its a Landrover) another a near new Prado got his wifes seat very wet saw him at the same camp ground with the interior hanging everywhere.
It didnt make mutch sence that crossing we saw cars not mutch more than standard drive straight through and others that were all tricked up get stuck, towing campers seemed to be a good way to get stuck. Great place for a camp and a swim not a great place to cross in a car.

We went through about 5 weeks ago and there was 17 vehicles in our convoy and 15 of those towing campers, not one had an issue crossing Nolans Brook........In that short time I think things have changed as I didn't think it was much of a challenge at all.......

Yer when I walked it and looked at the crossing I didn't think it should be a problem at all, looked quite easy really, that is untill it just sunk into the sand!

Good to see you made it back in one piece.

Nolans is just an example of how quickly things can deteriorate. Just look at Gunshot, few weeks ago it was easy, now people are having problems. By the sounds of it, Nolans has gotten a bit worse.
