I have heard its a good book. I havnt gotten around to reading it yet. I have one in a first edition with dust jacket signed by the author.

Only about 50 pages into this one, this man had balls that's for sure! Starting a coconut plantation on the Cape from scratch? It's a bit hard to get into as the old form of writing can be a little hard to follow at times. There is also some "white superior race" bullshit in it as well which was par for the course at the time I suppose.
Seems like the natives had the right idea, hunt, eat, sleep, shag, then start all over again!

Nothing remains of the plantation today. There are some initials carved into the tree in the early 1900's by Ann Hall at this site. Or there was a couple of year ago anyway. Each year when the fires go through it destroys a little each time.
I wont go on as it will give away what happened at the end.
