Welcome to the forum Steve.
You'll probably be up there before the tag-along.
Hope you find all the info you need for your trip in these threads.

Probably too soon to ask, but what places are we looking at going to for the 2010 tag-a-long?

Haven't really given it any serious thought just yet, though have been thinking more the bottom and middle of the Cape.
Maybe the beach run up to Cape Melville and Bathurst Bay, across to Kowanyama, down to Karumba and Normanton.
Fish the rivers as we go etc, etc, etc.
To the Purple pub for a couple of course as well.
I don't know, just thoughts.
Always open to suggestions.

That is my thinking at the moment, best of both worlds so to speak.
Cape Melville/Bathurst Bay on the east coast.
Kowanyama/Karumba/Normanton on the west (gulf) coast.
Visit Burketown while we're in the area, possibly.
Temple Bay?
Cheers,
xina.

John,
Have you started chasing up permit prices yet?? As I meantioned in another thread, it appears that they are doing their best to deter people from visiting the area !
What time frame are you looking at visiting the Cape ?

Looking at 3 weeks from home to home, same as Virilya Point trip.It will be his 20th anniversary for his first trip to Norman Creek. We know there were restrictions on camping near the river so just planning now.

John,
We were looking at heading out there for 3-4 days also on next years trip, but the following prices gained from the Aurukun Council website was a tad ludicrous !
The way I read it is:For 2 adults/car/boat to camp there, it will cost $180 PER NIGHT !! This is made up of Entry Fee of $50 per person per night, Camping fee of $20 per person per night, and a fee of $20 per night for each car, and each boat.
If this is for real, we are currently rethinking our trip details. Perhaps looking at doing the run from Karumba to Kowanyama to Pormpuraaw. There are plenty of options throughout that area.

With those prices, it is better than any green zone as no one would ever pay that rediculous amount to fish in some remote creek.

in that case (dates pending, I am in.. I am yet to get commitment from the family and friends i was going to come up with - 1 wrote off his 80series and bought a RAV4 :-? my dad's hilux is suspect to be sold, my cousin with his F250 XLT dual cab is questioning it's capability along the tracks and my mate in a dual cab hilux who runs a business doesnt know if his business partner would appreciate him taking off for 5 weeks, so, so far its just me.. hence i will be super keen to join a group.
my dates/preference would be late july-to aug or (after 20th aug- sep)

G'day rudic,
The dates and destinations for this tag-along haven't been defined yet, but you are more than welcome to join.
For access and control reasons the tag-alongs are limited to a maximum of 12 vehicles, and it's first in best dressed.
The tag-alongs are open to all Croc Crew members (forum members) and are free of charge, other than camping/access fees that need to be payed in advance.
The tag-alongs are not catered for in any way, all participants need to be self sufficient.
All day to day costs are to be borne by the individual participants.
It's a good way to meet some of your fellow forumers and see a part of the Cape in the company of people who have been there before and/or who currently live on the Cape.
Hopefully, once I sort out a few things and post a suggested itinery, you'll still be interested in coming along.

I couldn't beleive it.. he tries to tell me that it will go anywhere.. (Old family relative, going insane in the old age i reckon!)

Nedly, I am keen. I may have to join in along the way though depending on where we are heading. Maybe a meet-up at Karumba??

I've got heaps on at the moment, things seem to be coming at me from all directions.
So, in short, no further progress on the itinerary as yet.
Things will be a little clearer next week.
