Hi All-
I will be on the Cape roughly October 21st to the 30th and I am looking for someone to fish with (probably out of Weipa but open to anywhere) I would be willing to fill somebody's boat with gas if I could fish with you. I am not really that into guided fishing and can't really afford it anyway. I am a fly fisherman from Montana USA and have been fishing the salt for 15+ years, I know my way around a boat and would love to hook up with somebody local who could show me a Barra or better yet a GT or Permit (or if nothing else just drop me on a beach north or south of weipa for a day or 2). Let me know if there are any opportunities.

I am also looking for a cheap place to stay if you have any reccomendations

P.S. I will also buy most of the beer & shots (presuming you guys drink of course) after a day on the ocean.

thanks
Thomas Gnauck

Thomas,
You may be in luck. I fly into Weipa on the 25th of October and will be spending a week on a houseboat. We depart on Monday the 26th and get back on the 1st of November. Give me a call: 07 4780 5631 or send me a PM or email (info@creativecroc.com).

Can't promise too much but the fact that you are a fly fisher will certainly work in your favour.

Good luck. Another flyfishing nut. :D

Im just saying that because i dont have the patience to learn. First fish on a flyrod was a small barra but it wanted to commit suicide so i guess that doesnt count. :p

I don't see how you can catch flies with a hook
Haven't heard of any records for the biggest fly caught etc.

But good luck and have fun.
