Hi all,

Spent the arvo and a little of the evening fishing for the first time in Weipa.

Only thing I caught is baby moon fish I think. They are silver and fit in my hand. Wife wanted to keep them, she says the make good eating? She fries them whole, then picks of the fish meat?

Any one else eat them? I didnt think any one would bother.

After all the talk about how good the fishing is in Weipa I am a little disappointed. However will give it a few more goes yet.

I was fishing down in Weipa on Sunday as well. Only got a few catties and about 9 barra. Nothing over 60cm unfortunately.

I have caught the Moon Fish before but have never eaten them so cant help you out there.

Thanks Geoff, now I feel real bad. All I got was 4 small little fish, not even a barra or catfish,

Low tide was 0.4mt just after 12pm. We fished the first 2 hours of the run in at a small gutter. Used live mullet as we were not getting any hits on other baits. We did get lots of catties and even found there were plenty of baby ones in the castnet. Where were you fishing?

I was fishing off the wharf. I have a 4yo and not keen to get onto the banks etc.

We where there from around 3 to 6.30pm, then back around 7.30pm to around 9.30pm.

No one else was catching anything. I was using squid bait

We had prawns and squid but weren'y getting bites on it either. Same with lures.

The comp was good at the school oval. They had some great prizes.
