What crossing do you think is getting the bridge according to that Blog. Haven't been to the cape before so don't recognise the area. Head off for my first cape trip in 5 weeks. Can't wait!!

Hey Gobbo
We travelled the Bloomfield track about three weeks ago, the road from cape trib to Waju Waju was pretty good with the deepest crossing only about thigh deep.
After that there was some road works being carried out and loads of pot holes and wash outs right through to the lions den hotel.
Hope you enjoy your trip.
Cheers Ben

Hey Ben, would the track be okay for a camper trailer?
It won't be for another 6 weeks before we hit the track anyway, so a lot can change between now and then I guess.

Cairns to Cooktown via the Bloomfield track is usually well maintained and regularly travelled.
Biggest problem is crossing over the range at Cape Tribulation which is very steep both ways. Fully loaded my 94 TD Hilux just made it in 1st low range - with a run up. Hilux's are notoriously gutless however.
The water crossings through that way are not normally a problem this time of the year and some 2wd vehicles travel that path.

Thanks Plucker.
The steep sections, are they long hauls, or relatively short?

The steep stretches are pretty long hauls, guessing 500 yards a go and there is a couple. Others might be more definate on distances.
Of all the ranges I have travelled over this would be the steepest I have seen so far.
The drive is wonderful and well worth it though.

Yeah Geoff, we towed our camper up there, was pouring rain when we got to cape trib which made the ranges pretty slipery, we had a fully loaded 3lt rodeo and the camper on so the the pulls felt long. Had a ball but.
Have fun

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.
I think we will be okay pulling our CT with the patrol now.
Looking forward to the trip.
