OTL crossings

Now I don't have a really good memory of what is what here...

1. The first crossing - Palm.
2. Bertie Creek, I think.
3. Can't remember.
4. Err, that one would be Gunshot. I love Gunshot because nobody ever mentions what a pretty little creek it is.

Anyone heading up the OTL this year - PLEASE take plenty of pics - and contact me when you get back.

Batesy I was taking to Someone the other day and they seem to think that there was a easy crossing at gunshot or should I say a easyer Crossing, That you could do (drive around the straight drop) so you didn't have to use the gunshot bypass rd.
I guess it's changing all the time, Dose anybody ever try and do repairs on the crossing.

Yep... everyone says there's an easier crossing.

I'd say it's probably the ones that don't resemble cliff faces!

Here's some pics from 2 years ago... I can guarantee the place is far more chewed up now.

1. Far left access - view is from creek - just like the swiss fellas in the magazine. This is the one they were bogged in.

2. The main one on left is the famous one in all the shots. There's also a steep one in the middle if you look closely. I think the easy one next to it sloped away into the steep one.

Pretty vague. I really need to get up there again. Be nice if you fellas get some good shots on your trip.

3. Exit? Can't remember.

I bypass - I hate to admit it - but no recovery gear on this trip made me play it safe.

thanks for the shots batsey. we can't wait for our trip in october. We were planning on doing the PDR because I hear lots of different stores about the OTL. Would love to see the crossings but don't know how I will go in the brand new car?????

What is your advise? As I have posted in the past we will be towing a camper trailer..

I should definitely be able to get some current crossing shots for you over the coming months... if not me then some of the guys on the forum will surely get some pics (please!!).

At any rate you can always take the PDR bypass and cut through Heathlands just to view Gunshot, then go back out to the PDR again. This way you don't have to tackle any of the harder stuff.

The main section of the OTL is only about 70km long - takes a leisurely half a day or more if you don't get stuck.
