Hhhmmm, if they keep putting people off here at the current rate I could be looking for somewhere to live soon.
Might be just the thing.

Are things getting worse down there are they Nedly? Are many people losing their jobs?

I'm involved in the engineering industry, refineries, power stations, mining, conveyors, that sort of stuff.
Like the finance sector, engineering is one of the first to be affected by any global downturn, there have been a few guys 'demobilized' (new speak for sacked) recently.
There will be more people demobilized before it gets better, I expect to loose another 3 or 4 guys by the end of the month, and probably a few more by the end of Feb, beyond that I can't tell.

There are a lot of nervous people around town at the moment, in engineering anyway.
