Hi all,

We are leaving on the 6th of June from Rocky for a 4 week round trip. There are 6 vehicles all up travelling with us, 3 with camper trailers.

Itinerary is a follows.

6th: Rocky-Proserpine (others are coming from further away so this was a good comprimise.

7th Proserpine-Cairns (Ellis Beach)
8th Cairns to Cooktown (Via bloomfield track)
9th Cooktown
10th Cooktown-Lakefield (via Battlecamp Rd)
11th Lakefileld (Hann River)
12th Lakefield(Hann River)
13th Lakefield-Archer River
14th Archer River-Bramwell Junction
15th Bramwell Junction-OTL (Fruitbat Falls maybe)
16th OTL-Punsand Bay
17th Punsand Bay
18th Punsand Bay

From here things get a bit more fluid, we are working our way back slowly, looking at going out to vrilya point for a couple of days, then into Weipa for 3 days, followed by a couple of days at Chili Beach. That still leaves a few spares for those special places you always find on the way.

Anyone see any dramas with what we are planning, or better yet have any suggestion of where we have missed that are absolutely must see places.

Cant wait, 23 days to go!!!
Cheers

I like the idea of spare time and much of the trip unplanned.
Personally I have never planned any time here and there, more so stop when we find a nice spot or stop when we want. After all it is a holiday and that uncertainty does add appeal to the remoteness.

However seeing that there is a few involved you might have to book a few places to help things along.

I am sure you will have a ball.

Thanks Plucker,

We have been thinking the same thing, that is why the first couple of weeks of the trip is much more planned, we have already booked into caravan parks for the first couple of overnighters, and also booked for Cooktown and Lakefeild. As we go along if we are going to be somewhere that we may need to book we will sort it as we can.

I agree that the best itineraries are the ones that give some room for movement.

Cant wait.

Cheers
