G'day all,

Can anyone recommend a good strong camp stretcher for a athletically challenged fella like myself?
I have had a look at a few and they all seem a little rickety, i weigh in at around 120kg dry weight, (add more for a session around the camp fire on steak sangers and Bundys finest). I seen one in a camp shop about a year ago, and I'm stuffed if i can remember which brand it was but it was an XXL version and was pretty rigid.
I've had a look at the BFC ones, Outdoor Connection and a Coleman, but none of them really inspire a lot of confidence....
Gotta go, a bowl of fruitcake and custard is calling me!

Catch yas later.

Give the Tent Cot a good hard look over.
Word has it that they have just been accepted by BCF. I guess when you see the quality of what they did have, it is any wonder they have now gone to a better made product.

We used these on our promotional trip last year and had eight of them up there for 15 days. One was damaged but this was due to improper setup before getting into it.

There will be some more info in this years Cape Yorker on them as well.

As Ant said, the Tentcots are really good. Comfortable and easy to fold up and you can even leave all your bedding inside as well. I dont think they will have any trouble with 120kg. They are strongly built.

Yeah i had seen the pics of the OS Tent Cots, they look like an excellent idea for a quick overnighter and would suit myself just fine for this purpose. However i'm just looking for a stretcher to set up in a tent, and the tent cot would be overkill. Thanks heaps for the replies though!!!

I weighed myself before and after a session at the pub a few years ago and I gained 4 kilos in only a few hours.

I have a couple of aluminium stretchers that fold up. They are lightweight and easily support my weight (80kg). I just got them from Rays Outdoor and Marine in Cairns and from memory, i think they are around the $40 mark.

I have a couple OZ Tent King Goanna stretchers I got em with the subscription offer to 4wd Action magazine they were endorsing them last year. Roothy was camping on one and reckoned they were great so I got 1 and I liked it so much I extended my sub again and got another one they are well constructed they retail for around $100 give or take a few dollars each way and they are rated for 150kg. Most camping places have them.

Make sure you stay away from the cheaper versions though. A fried used one once and it buckled even though it was set up properly.
