As of a month ago this road is open. They have done a bit of work to it last year such as putting doing up the approaches and putting in culverts at the crossings. Before this happened there was one bad creek that when everything was still a bit wet, it provided for a sticky situation. Sometimes it used to be closed until things dried up a bit to stop people from cutting up the road.

The road through Batvia is currently closed duie to people using it and chewing up a couple of the crossings. It should be useable however by the time you head up.

You might find it a little difficult finding areas to go safely, legally and with permission to go shooting. You will need permission off land owners, either indigenous or stations, knowing the right contacts will help. Otherwise try Wazza who runs the Rod & Rifle charters down the west coast from Seisia.

Wazza no longer does the hunting side of the business as he is pretty busy now with the fishing tours.
