Guy's,
Looking for info good or bad on the 5.5mtr Formosa Centre Cab? I know they haven't been around long (1998) and interested in peoples experience/knowledge or opinion on this particular boat. The right ups I have read are all glowing so looking for real world info.....Very well priced....

hey Teabag
My inlaws have a 5.5mtr centre console with a 90 merc on the back and loves it.
Havent been in it yet but he says it planes easily even when loaded for a weekend trip, is fairly dry for a tinny and rides well in the chop.
he is pretty picky with his gear so I guess if he's happy with it, it must be ok.
Hope this helps
Ben

Thanks mate, everything I have read has been positive so it looks like a goer......In the review they state that the Centre Cab rides better than the Centre Console due to the little extra weight. So, if your in laws are very happy with the Centre Console things are looking good......

Well, I just purchased a 5.5mtr (18ft) Formosa Centre Cab. It's a 2008 model running a Suzuki 140hp 4 Stroke that has only 70hrs. Came with most extras such as Transom door, rear bench seat (removable), Navman Plotter, Navman Sounder, Navman VHF, Bait board and Live Bait tank, low pressure deck wash, anchor launchers on the bow and a few other minor things. Took it out for a run yesterday from Hervey Bay and am very impressed. Fishing was a little light on with only 3 School macks but a good day none the less to test the boat.....Absolutly fly's along with the 140 Suzuki on the back and very good on fuel.......Will post up some pictures next week when I get home........

teabag,
I don't know much about formossa, but I can tell you a bit about the suzuki df 140. I'm spinning the Johnson version on the back of my tub (exactly the same as the suzuki just white) and after 2600 hrs, including two 'swims', and pushing a platey that weighs 1.5 tonnes, the thing is awesome. would buy another one tomorrow! After all that work, it still rates 100% compression, starts first pop, chews 23l/h@ 20kn and is so quiet you forget its running.
They are the best in my opinion. you won't be disappointed by the motor.
Cheers

I agree with yetti. Also the df 140 is about 2-3kg lighter than the df 115. A good reliable outboard. Which boat was it Teabag? From Mackay?

Went out today off Mackay to Penrith Island which is a good hike and good test for the boat in some average conditions. Was very pleased with it's performance though fishing wasn't the best with 2 very nice Red Throat, a very good size Trout and a big Mouri Wrasse (obviously realease). Though was a good test and day out.......

Very nice Teabag. Love the lines on her, looks like she will be good on rough weather.
You should tow it up on the Tag-a-long. Haha.
