Someone's got to start new threads, just ordered this book, will give a review after it arrives, maybe.
Anyone know Allan & Browyn at the end of the text below????????

The Holland Family : Lockerbie Cape York by A.M. Hall [ nee Holland ]

A softcovered book of 208 pages in excellent condition .

Lockerbie , Cape York , Queensland is Australia's most northern cattle station , the book provides an insight into the property and the family that owns it and includes a wide range of Australian history including Australian political history . The authors father Cyril Thomas Holland who served in the 42nd light horse batallion in world war one in 1915 is also featured in the book . . The book also provides numerous historical photographs .

The book was printed by Gladestone Printing Services Queensland .

The book has a message on the title page that reads '' To Allan & Browyn
In happy memory of your trip to Cape York 28/7/1999 with Best Wishes [signed by]
Ann Hall nee Holland .

Ann Hall was a close friend of the family and she passed away March last year in Townvill i think it was.

I would definitely recomend reading this book as it is a really interesting read. If anyone is after signed copies, let me know as i have about 40 or 50 at home. Retail is around $30 i think but will sell them for $15. Anyone interested can send me a pm on here.

I am only selling them at that price to get rid of them as i will not be at the centre anymore. $15 is below cost price.

Finished this one, it gives a great insight into the white history of the Cape and answered a question I had about how the name Seisia came to be.

Come on, buy a copy from geoffjy and have a read for yourselves!

Not too many visitors give it a second thought Loxsmith. Only ocasionally does the question get asked.

The mine shafts from Ginger Dick's mine are still there as well as a few remnants of machinery. A lot of people drive past this one without knowing its there. Doesnt help that you cant see the track from the main road.

Ann Hall stayed with us for several days when we lived at Lockerbie Station in 1999. One of those days she autographed books for people at the Croc Tent who bought them.

I have seen the book in the State library of NSW.
My wife's family (Jenkns) were at Piara and are mentioned and in pics in the book, alogn with their ketch "Mitze"
I would like 5 copies if you still have them please for our kids and neices.
