I am a long way from the warm waters at the moment but don't think i didn't know the season is about to open.
For the last couple of years we made it a ritual to head straight out after work on opening day just to sooth the Barra fever. The last couple of years it opened on weekdays and ofcourse this year i'm not there and the season opens on a weekend.
Lets here a report from those keen fisho's that specifically went out on opening day to harass a few Barra.
Go on, make me jealous!

Not much chance of me heading out today. Heavy rain, lightning, and such may play a part in this somehow.

The Cyclone and flooding might stop me for a while too.

Thats great news!!!
Oops, i mean thats sad, oh well, i hope the weather improves for you soon, in about 4 or 5 weeks anyway (when i get home). I am just joking.
On the positive side, at least the rivers are having a good flush.

Be good to see what the rivers produce once the rain has gone for a bit. If its not raining when you get back Ben, we will go out chasing a few. Might even go to a secret spot.;)

Oh well, the last 2 days have been reasonably rain free so fingers crossed, i might head out and chase some barra on the weekend. I hear a few are being caught and the salmon are running.
Saw a classic shot on the front page of the Townsville paper a few days ago.
With the floods, there was a fella catching barra while standing in a flooded street casting lures.
Another mate of mine has sent me shots of him casting lures from his boat while fishing the roads of Ingham. He actually has his boat parked in his driveway at the moment. This is Gary Luxford from GANAT Swing-A-Way steering consoles.
Here are a few shots.......

No-one hears from him for what seems like weeks and he just swans in, makes a couple of posts, posts some photo's, and that's it.
You have to visit another site to find out he has been stuck in Townsville for nearly a week.
BTW Ant, how is everyone in Townsville?
You and the family didn't suffer any loss or damage I hope.
Hey Nedly,
Yeah I am fine. Our place in Townsville was not a problem when it came to rain. I had a lot of fun clearing trees and digging drains in the pouring rain- kinda felt like I was a kid again.
The wife and our little girl are still down in Townsville while I am back up here trying to sift through all the work I have ahead of me- very daunting task.

It's good to hear you didn't suffer as a result of the floods.
It's also good to hear you have a lot of work, and I'm happy in the knowledge that I may have contributed a little to your workload :)
Thanks Nedly- what are 'mates' for.
