Thanks Geoff !

I managed to sneak out of Sydney up to Barrington Tops for the last 3 days with the missus & our 2 kids (4 & 7y/o).

Stayed at Eaglereach Resort, Eco friendly wilderness lodge - there was a fishing dam, heaps of yabby dams, and even a 4wd trail (Rocky Horror Trail - worse than anywhere I've been in the Cape !). Managed to muddy up the wheels, to take my mind off The Cape for a while.

Cheers

We wet a line or two, but it is very hard to keep 2 kids enthused after not getting a bite in the first 2 minutes, so cut the losses, and just did some 4WD'ing around the fire trails instead.

I realised many years ago Geoff, that a good day's fishing in NSW doesn't get anywhere near to a bad day's fishing in Cape York, so my plethora of gear usually only gets treated to Cape York trips !

Firstly happy birthday to all thats had the birthday recently.

Fishing, I was spoilt when I went over to the Kimberly coast 3 times in six years. I use to get depressed when I caught a 5kg Flathead in Sydney after I came back. Now a 4kg flathead is the talk of the town if you can get one.
Even the Blue Eye Cod are dwindling in size and the best in the last few years has been about 12kg.
I think I will now go and drink to all the birthday people and wish them well.
It is also a 2 fold drink I am now depressed about fishing in Sydney again so will drown my depression.
