For those in SE Qld, the LifeLine book sale will soon be on again.
From memory it runs from Jan 17 to Jan 26 at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
If you're lucky you can find some real bargains there, last year I found a signed hardcover copy (both authors) of the book To Many Spears, I think it cost me $2.00 or something that silly.
I'll definately be there again searching for that hard to find copy of something, maybe Rice in the Weavils.
Anyone with a book they would like to get?
Give me a title and author and I will keep an eye out for it, no promises though.

Hi Nedly,
I really will have to try and get down for that one , one of these years. I go to the one in Rocky, but yours will be a lot bigger. For years I've been trying to replace a book called " The Jesus Scroll ". Authors' surname is Joyce. I believe he's Australian. The copy I had was a paper-back. Don't waste too much time looking though. Just if you happen to see it.
Cheers,
xina.

No worries xina, if I see it I'll grab a copy.
What genre would it come under, Australiana, religious, flowers?

I checked last night, it actually cost me $6.00, still cheap for a first edition in very good condition.

Hi Nedly,
It would probably be with the Religious stuff, although if they looked at it, it might go in the fiction. It is supposedly a true story, written as fiction, as some things are. Like I said, don't spend time looking, just if you happen upon it. Thanks.
Cheers,
xina.

Sorry xina, I had a look and was not able to see it anywhere.
I thought search time could be reduced by looking for a key word in the book title, do you know how many religeous books have the word "Jesus" in the title?
Well let me tell you, it's LOTS.
BTW, I believe the book was only published in soft cover.
I did find some (hopefully) interesting books, I'll list them in the next day or so.
Thanks for trying anyway Nedly. Hope you didn't waste too much time on it. Can't wait to see your list.
Cheers,
xina.

Here are some of the books I picked up this year.
Cape York to Kimberley (George Farwell, 1962)
Footprints Along the Cape York Sandbeaches (Nonie Sharp)
The Mysteries of Black Mountain (Maureen Kozicka, 1987)
Crocodile Juliette (Jack Lawrence, 1997)
The Wild White Man of Badu (Ion L. Idriess, 1950)
(I was lucky to get a first edition copy, cloth bound for I think $6)
An Elephant Charging my Chookhouse (Harry Reade, 1987)
(1st edition, possibly signed by author, for $3)
Queensland Frontier (Glenville Pike, 1978)
(1st edition)
Some others:-
Life in the Crocodile Islands (Ann E. Wells, 1963)
(Milingimbi mission, just off Arnhem Land)
Kings in Grass Castles (Mary Durack, 1959)
Icing on the Damper (Marie Mahood)
(seems to be set in the centre, around Tanami Desert)
Petticoat Pioneers, Australias Colonial Women (Denton Prout - Fred Feely)
+ a few more.

I noticed this morning that the Lifeline book sale is on again, from 6 June to 9 June, they've got a couple of banners up around town advertising it.
As it will be on the long weekend I might drag myself down there once again.
It's the lure of possibly finding a treasure that keeps me going back, but I must have a little more self control this time. I think we walked away with about 20+ books last time and spent more than $100 and I still haven't read one of them.
Sad eh?
