What's going on, no new posts or any discussion for days? Somebody must had caught some fish or something over the weekend?

Now you know what I mean by a "Forum Drought" Teabag. I hate it when this happens. The guys up North are all "out there doing it" at the moment.
I'm usually on the net at least a dozen times a night. It's the first thing I look at after checking e-mails, and it's the last thing I look at before shutting down for the night.
Cheers,
xina.

Yeah, know what you mean.....I wish I wasn't down in Sydney last week as the weather on Wed/Thur and Friday where good for wetting a line. Bugger, have to keep watching the weather and hope it comes good again.....Yes, I also wish I was up the Cape fishing, camping or just down right bludging whilst smashing a few coldies.......
Thanks for that Campdog. Those Lightening shots are amazing. I also found your "Cruiser". You sure fooled me that day. Where did you catch the Quoll to get such a close shot? Your sunsets and sunrises still blow me away.
Cheers,

I'm still here,
I'm am trying to complete all the odd jobs in the next few weeks before we head off. Very busy....long hours, i knew it was going to happen at this time of year so i'm not complaining.
In between this i am organising a biiiig mob to come down Angkuum way this weekend.
I believe Ant & Geoff are living the good life up top and calling it work. They're testing polyboats (i wonder if landing big macs will come in that polyboat report) and TJM equipment.
I will be vaguely in and out of this site until we are set up in our new location. So, don't send out any search party...........yet!!!

I've been busy with wedding stuff, our youngest got himself hitched on the weekend.
Great night, everything went perfectly, except for a bit of rain just before the ceremony.
Now, back to the itinerary.

Everyone on the trip was great. I had a ball. Shame you couldnt have gone.
The only motorbike tours that come up here only have 2 wheels, not four.

Fishingal - come to Weipa, there are quad bikes everywhere! People take them camping at Pennefather, and up around Cullen Point and Janey Creek, also along the Wenlock - everywhere really! Lots of fun.
(A little less fun are the "*#!*" who ride them everywhere around Weipa town itself, especially on a Sunday morning - the nature strips, beaches, footpaths!)
We have seen some great camper trailer set-ups lately around the place, with room for the quad bike.
All you need to fit in with the Weipa locals is a cage on the back of your quad for your piggin' dog, and the attitude to go with it!

Its not so popular up here. Ant was telling me the other day about how many quads there are in and around Weipa. I didnt really notice them when i was down there. It is a great way to get around though.

Hey Geoff, in August 07 last year we struck a mob of about 40 quads leaving Coen heading to Punsand Bay.
Not sure who organised the tour.

I know the one you mean. There were also a group of quads up here this year as well but it was to raise money for a charity.

Those bridges sure have made a difference Geoff. I remember Mick Norris [with on leg] and his group came up from Portland Roads to Bromley, and then went through to our beach, and on up to Captain Billy Landing. Can't remember if they had 4 or 6 Quads, but when we went to Night Island to fish, we saw their tracks still there above the high-tide mark on the mainland. ['86].
They followed a cattle-pad through to the beach from our place, as we hadn't put the track through at that stage.
I believe they had organised fuel dumps at intervals along the coast, and if I remember rightly, they'd started from Cairns, and were trying to follow the coastline as much as possible as far as they could. This was '84 or '85.
Cheers,
xina.

I would love to do all that sort of stuff. Hopefully in the near future. I have all the trailers and boats and such for a quad but one important thing is missing. NO QUAD.

I wouldnt mind a quad but not sure how it would handle Nolans Brook. Do they make a Nissan Quad.I would need a reliable one.
When I win Lotto Geoff.

Mate bought a quad the other day. Brand spanker. They do make them so they float. You just have to wade in the water with it but the tyres are big enough to create enough bouyancy.
So Nolans would be a piece of cake.

Now that sounds interesting Plucker. Definitely food for thought.

I think he was told to leave it in a low gear and it will help propel itself across, and you just wade/swim with it.
