Well it's official...
The Stack clan are moving further north (not that theres much mainland left) to Bamaga for the beginning of next year.
......the fish are trembling.
Topographic maps have been purchased and I'm starting to research some good fishing/4WD/camping spots....my ears are pricked!

Congratulations are in order then Stacky. You do realise that things will be different up here dont you? You will have to work a little harder to catch all the good fish as the fishing is not as good as the Lockhardt area.
Did Jade get the job? If that is so that would mean end of Jan your up here then. At the latest anyway.

There goes our Lockhardt fishing correspondent, and also there will be a big dent in Bamaga's alcohol supply. Stacky's got a lot of catching up to do....
Good luck to you !

I should imagine that the price of fuel and alcohol up here would be a bit nicer on the wallet wouldnt it Stacky?
Plus we have a drive through. See mate, were flash up here hey.
Congratulations Stacky. Just think. You might have had to go south. At least you're still in GODS' Country !
Cheers,
xina.

lol.......... The supply won't be affected but people may notice me cause i'm rolling around on the floor after 10mins or 2 drinks. It has been quite awhile between drinks.
As for any info thats needed of the area i am still happy to oblige. Especially now that i'm not going to be living elsewhere soon. I might even give up a couple of secret spots to our frequent forum posters.
I'll also be keeping in contact with some good freinds i have made while living here and will be able to provide up to date info of the area if needed.

That's good to hear Stacky.
Who knows, might have to organise a CAPEYORKER gathering at the Tavern next year as part of the tag-along.

Having alcohol at all would be a lot nicer.
You are flash up there....drive through, take away, fresh bread, pie's, post office, sealed roads and an actual fuel bowser to fill up at before you pay.
Do you have electricity bills or is it pre-paid like here?

One of the businesses that i have up here has a monthly bill but as for nearly everywhere else, it is all power cards. They have only just brought in the $50 power cards too.

i just filled up 2 x 20lt drums of unleaded yesterday and bought a half of watermelon (about $10) which cost me $97 if that gives you an idea. i'm filling both tanks of the troopy early next week for a drive down to Cairns for the 'All Blacks' comp i'll let you know.

If that is the case, then unleaded is around $2.17lt. For some reason i thought it would cost more down there than it would here.

Btw,
thanks for the congrats from all.
I am definetely going to miss this country and the people including the children. I felt terrible telling the kids the news. Half of me really wants to stay.
We have weighed up our options and moving up to a busier community with bigger schools and a hospital is definetely something we took into account, plus all the other positives i mentioned earlier like alcoholic beverages.
My Wife and I are very excited.
