Just been Flicking through the mag (Cape Yorker) I got today and see that the TS Music Festival is on in September. Just Wonder how to get alittle more info on Dates and stuff. Had abit of a look on the net but had no luck.

There's a few other errors around the traps too. But I won't draw any attention to those - the missus has already torn strips off me.
She's an English teacher, so she proofed the whole thing ... well, everything except the bits that I told her had been done by me.
Guess which bits have all the mistakes?!
As for the festival ... I'll call around, though I know there probably isn't a date set in stone yet. I'll post the info when I get it.
Do you guys run a calendar up that way or just 3 time zones Dry, wet, and the build up to the wet. LOL

Hell, we can't even get the time right, let alone the date.
The TI thing is probably organised around 'Island Time' - which is laid back to say the least. I'm sure I'll find out the details about two weeks before the actual event.
At a guess would you say it's a weekend event Batesy. Just been looking at my dates I think we would be north of the jardine from the Mon leaving on the Fri. Although saying that I have 4 days up my sleeve with nothing planned so we could stay Sat 15th and Sun 16th of Sep if we had to.

Yeah, I reckon it'd be a weekend event for sure.
I'll have a chat to the guys from the local rag up there, see if they can cast any light on the subject.

Coza, it seems you can't trust anything you read these days - not even the stuff that we publish!
The Torres Shire has changed the Music/Cultural Festival to every two years. So it looks like the next one is in September 2008.
Sorry for the misleading info.

Run through this with me Batesy
In the mag it read's
"Torres Strait Cultural Festival is held every 2 year's and is on in 2008"
Then
"Torres Strait Music Festival is held every 2 years and is on in 2007"
Which is which???
Are they both on in Sep 2008 or are they 1 and the same thing.
Just making sure these nothing on the week were up top.

From what i can gather they are both the same thing now.
I'm starting to wish that I had put all that info together myself, rather than rely on info given to me.
I'll double check with the council though, just to make sure.

Got it sussed now.
A decision was made by the Torres Council to alternate the festivals every two years.
Therefore:
2008 - Cultural Festival
2010 - Music Festival
2012 - Cultural Festival ... etc, etc...
Looks like you'll have to plan a return trip, Coza!

I see on the Peddell's Ferry site that they have the same info on the Festvial that it is on this year.

The Mag was A couple weeks late 2 I think.
As for the Festival would be good to find something that's on when where up that way.

no festival this year is correct, 2008 is the next festival. it will be held late september. dates should be confirmed in the next month or so.
It is hoped that the 2008 festival will be arts and culture to allow for music and dance.
