Been looking at cape york videos on youtube and thought I'd seen them all but these ones appeared recently. It is a series of 12 "chapters" and I loved them. It is just well edited home video of a group of three vehicles taking pretty much the path I'm planning on taking later this year. Took well over an hour to watch them all. Pace picks up about half way through the second one. Here is the link to chapter one...

They all have "cape york action" in the title if you need to search further.

Hey Red,
I've watched "thousands" of YouTube clips, and heaps on Cape York.
I have to agree, these ones are really well put together, and give you a good snapshot of many of the highlights that the cape has to offer.
After they get to Cooktown, it was good to see that the novelty of driving really fast through creek crossings waned. That is usually something that gets annoying with a lot of the "home movie brigade" (yes, we did it when we were younger too !).
Chapter 10 is "must see TV" for Campdog. It will bring back some fond memories :)
Certainly worth a look for those that haven't been there before (or those longing to go back) to see what you are getting yourself in for.

And the good thing about these YouTube Clips, unlike the DVD that Nedley referred to the other day, is that they are FREE to watch !!
For those interested, there are heaps of other clips of Cape York on YouTube. Just type in a search for Cape York, Cape York fishing, Cape York pigs etc etc.
Hours (and I mean Hours) of enjoyment.

At my place, it depends on the time of day. Sometimes is plays straight through most clips, other times it stops every 5-10 seconds.
For most clips, I just turn down the volume, let it play through once, then hit replay. Shouldn't have any drama's that way, and don't have to put up with the stop/start. Otherwise, once it gets about halfway through, I just drag the counter back to the start, and let it start playing.
Give that a try.

Hitting the pause button for a while will let it catch up too.

Its all I can do this year. But love watching the DVDs of being stuck in Nolans Brook.
At least you guys can still get there sometime. Spare a thought for those of us who may never make it again. I'm still hoping though. Haven't quite given up yet.

And looking at the fuel prices, it may soon be the ONLY way to see the cape !

I came across a bloke on a push bike in 04 and he seemed to be managing OK.
Im not sure if my savings for next trip will keep up with the increase in fuel prices,
Not sure how I would go in Noland Brook on a pushy though.
One thing I did hear was talk about a walking tour from cooktown to the palmer river goldfields, using aboringinal locals as guides,.Would be interesting trip.

Yeah,
We saw a swag of them doing it on bike in 2006.
Also saw a show on TV a month or so ago, about a full group tour on bike.
Not sure if i could handle eating everybody's dust though.
I watched all the "Cape York action" videos on Youtube last night. All i can say is well done to those guys that put it together - fantastic.
Just makes me want to get there quicker - this time in 12 months i'll be there.
One question i have for you guys that have been there. I noticed a few of the river/creek crossings on the OTL were quite deep & the video was taken end of June/early July (i know there was a late wet). Is it likely that those same crossings will be much deeper earlier in the season i.e in May when i'm planning to go?

Sometimes the tele track is still closed in May. We were on the cape on 27th April last year and all the creeks were washed out and trees across everywhere. The locals from Weipa were heading there with chainsaws etc to open the track.I dont think I would like the claim to fame of being the first on the track. Just depend on the weather.
This fella as done a realy good 7 part capeyork HD video
top work for 1 man and a camera
