Campdog, you really should think about a book, or even an exhibition of your photo's. In my humble opinion they are brilliant. Thank you for allowing us to see them.
Cheers,
xina.

If you can ever get to the Cape during the Wet, you'll find somedays the sea is as smooth as glass.
Cheers,

Hey Campdog,
Here's what it looks like on the east coast of the Cape with no wind.
I am looking forward to these days again as it's been awhile. Not long now.
This is a reef out off Chili Beach.

I cruised up the coast from Cairns to TI a couple of years ago, late January to early Feb, and the entire trip over 2 weeks was like that.

Except of course the hour cruise into the Endeavour and 3 days later the hour cruise out.

It was magic!

Very hot though, even the sandflies stopped bitting in the middle of the day to rest in the shade.

Yes it gets very hot when it's that still.

I go through a lot of H2O while on the water. I don't have shade in either boats as it gets in the way with big fish running round the boat.
I frequently wet the hat or jump in for quick dips (fully clothed) where it's safe to stay cool.

Even camping can become unpleasant when it's that still. Laying in bed in a lather of sweat.

Jeez it's tough in paradise.

Come clean now Stacky, if you're on your own, you're probably as naked as the day you were born. (If you're sensible anyway, at least while you're camping. Be a bit risky in the boat with no shade these days.)
Cheers,
xina.

Ha...ha....ha,
As much as i like the idea of feeling free and getting back to nature, i think it would be dangerous fishing in a boat in the raw. Anyway, my skin is so prone to getting burnt i have to cover up and i would hate to have a blistered backside or frontside for that matter.
I have thought about it while camping but the local indigenous can come walking out of the bush from anywhere, you never know where they are and i don't want to give them an injury from laughter.

Geez, listen to me, i'm blbbering like a guilty little boy full of excuses

Anyway, aren't we getting a little off the topic here

Mid morning on the water. On days as still as this you know it's gonna be a stinking hot day.

The sun protection i wear while on the water. Light ventilated clothing, gloves and regularily caking on sun cream and drinking lots of water, but the fishing is awesome on these hot days.

looks pretty good to me stacky.Different sunrise from what I saw.The wind blew that hard that the sun was blown over the other side of the Cape before I could take a photo.

Did'nt realise you camped so close to home Stacky. We always had the noise of vehicles to warn us when someone was coming, unless they walked in from the beach. That only happened once while I was there, and the dogs let us know someone was coming, so by the time they came down through the orchard we were respectable.
What river mouth is it? Sunrise over Restoration looks wonderful. Reeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllly making me homesick with those shots.
Cheers,
xina.

Campdog,
I know how it feels when it blows like that. It hasn't stopped now for what it feels like about six months of 30knots plus. Today looks good though......but i got to work. Tommorrow it will blow most likely.

Xina,
That's the Claudie river heading out just after launching the boat at Taylor's landing.
The locals cover some distances around here either on foot, boat or vehicle. Any great camping spot i know about they also know about. Your right though our dog soon let's us know if someone's hanging around. They are all very scared of her, they often tell me that my dog is wild and they won't walk near us if we have her with us. They don't even walk down our street if i have the gate open. I don't blame them, she can put on a hell of an act for them to be genuinely scared.

Yeah, that'd be right, just after we leave the wind drops.
