I considered getting one when they first came out, but then again I'm a cheap bugga (yeah Batesy, and easy), a billy in the fire does us fine.

I am interested in hearing user reports though, you never know, maybe one day.

I have a Coleman Hot Water system and IMO it's not really worth the money. When it is working it is fine and produces very hot water though not quite hot enough for a Coffee but pretty close. WRT showering it's water pressure is pretty low so doesn't give the best of spread. I have gone away from that now and just use a cheap 12v pump and shower head that you get from any camping shop in conjunction with a 20ltr bucket. You boil a kettle of water and add that to the bucket and bob's your uncle you have a hot shower. 1/10 the price and works better IMO. The other benefit is space, the Coleman unit takes up heaps of space packed or on the bench yet the cheap camp shower takes nothing......I've had mine now for over 3 years and now hardly, if ever gets used.....Sell it to you at the right price.........

I have one and and agree they are not worth the money. The biggest issue is the battery won't charge off a 12 volt connection which makes them useless on a long trip.

When they are working they a good for the instant warm water - don't be fooled not much chop for a hot cuppa

I saw something interesting item in a whitworths catalogue the other day. You plug an element into your cigarette lighter and put it into a pot of water and in no time at all it will boil. Might be cheaper to do that and ise an old fashioned camp shower. Also saw a 12v oven too. I wonder what they would be like?

I remember that feeling well Geoff. Used to feel like that when visitors arrived too for about half an hour, then couldn't wait for them to go. Sounds awful, but I loved the isolation.
Cheers,
xina.

Not weird Geoff, just door to door sales people who were very persuasive, and used to get housewives into serious debt by letting them pay the goods off while they were using them. Doesn't sound serious, but it was a trap situation where they would keep coming back with more goods, so people used to get deeper and deeper into debt before they had payed the original lot off. Like I said, you don't want to know.
Cheers,
xina.

Nothing untoward though guys, they just made it seem such an easy way to get things you would have normally had to save quite a while for.
Cheers,
xina.
