Hi Guys,

I have just got a Light off road camper trailer and while it is unlikely that I'll visit the cape with it I was wondering if anyone could send me ideas and pictures for boat racks. I have a 3.8 explorer that I want to carry on it. I have seen some swing on/off caterlever type racks as well as the good old tradie ute style. The explorer is 95kgs so its pretty heavy for a topper really.

thanks

From what I understand, there is either the swing away type that can be strut assisted, or the H frame.
I would prefer the swing away style so you dont have to remove the boat everytime you want to set up camp. Also it would help the removal and reinstalling of the boat at the fishing spot. Some of these units are rated at 100kg's so you should be fine there.
As to where and who makes these beasties, maybe a fabrication shop might be able to help out.
Cheers.

For the commercially available type, Rhino Rack have two options. One loads from the rear and the other (new on the market) loads from the side.

I have ordered a side loader and should have it fitted to the cruiser in a few weeks.
Best to check them out online for more info.
