Well, looks like I'm the most privileged forum member - like you lot didn't already know that - because I've just finished reading my nice new, glossy 2008 edition of Cape Yorker. Ha ha..

All I can say is this: Campdog, you bring the classy tone of the mag down with your mug shot.

I'm joking of course. Firstly, Campdog's article is great. In fact the whole mag is fantastic and is a real credit to Ant. He's pulled this whole issue off with pure hard work and guts. Looking through the pages certainly made me wish I was still involved ... until I remembered what it takes to get the bastard on the newsagency racks. Alcohol and swearing.

The photos are amazing in this edition so I hope you guys and gals really enjoy this issue because what Ant has pulled off is nothing short of a miracle. I know this for a fact.

Ant's even given the forum a plug too, so hopefully some new talent should show up soon to replace half you tired old mongrels that seem to loiter around here simply for the thrill of reading my interesting posts! :)

I'm already looking forward to next year's edition .... hopefully Ant will start working on it ASAP ... otherwise we'll probably have to take delivery next Christmas!!

All in all ... the mag is great. You guys are great. The vibe is good. The weather is mild. The kids are finally asleep. And I need to be drunk. Or asleep.

New born babies mess with your head - as you can no doubt tell from my scatter-shot post.

Hopefully none of the above made any sense! Otherwise you'll all start understanding my complex brain. :)

Batesy, whats this about a mug shot, I was hoping you lost that CD when you sold out to Ant. I hope I can get to the mailbox before the Mrs does.
My ride to Cape York for a fishing trip leaves in the morning without me,I have been grounded to the backyard , so at least there will be something read.I have tried everything from kicking and screaming to threatening to run away, but didnt work. Might need some lessons on grovelling from you Batesy.

I collected the mail on Friday to find the Mag amongst it. The timing couldn't have been better cause we were packed and off to camp at the upper Wenlock. It has provided some great reading while relaxing by the river in between bush walking, fishing and swimming all day. Oh! i did notice a croc slide down stream from the 'Roads' crossing, so be cautious if you have a dog or kids in the water.

Now i'm about to load the boat and go chase some Barra. I love long weekends.

Live every day like it's your last, cause one day you might have kids and end up like Batesy. Oops, sorry Batesy, that slipped out. Don't worry, my day will come and i'll be ringing you to see if your kids will baby sit for us.

Thanks for providing a good read Ant.

Seen as i'll be driving out in the June/July holidays, i may as well stop over for the rodeo at Laura as it will be good to meet other Cape Yorker forum members there if anyone is in the area and interested.

Just got mine, and won't be on the net long tonight. I'll be reading it within the hour. At a quick glance, it looks as though I'll be re-reading this one for months.

HI all,
Thanks for the feedback. Just got back in last night and still unpacking and doing the mandatory servicing (oil, air, etc).
As you can imagine, things are a little crazy here at the moment but I will put up a more detailed post once I get a little more time.
In a nutshell, the Cape roads are pretty good. Only 'rough' section is around Heathlands but I was told that a road crew would be working that area early next week.

Only down side to the whole trip is idiots that drive the dirt roads without their headlights on. I do not know how to get the point across to these people. You would think the signs that actually reads "Dirt road, put your headlights on for safety' would cover it!!

More later.........

Hi Ant I agree, you have done a great job with the magazine.Just makes me want to sell up and move north. I have been reading it at work today.
As far as headlights on in the dust I think it mest be if its not dark I dont need them on. A bit like a dark car on a wet day with no lights on.I think the headlights on all vehicles should be wired into the ignition, If the engines on then so are the lights.
