Okay, here is one that has me stumped. I own a 1987 Toyota Landcruiser Sahara. HJ61 with the 12HT diesel motor.
I am trying to find out what my TARE and GMV weight loads are, and cannot find any info on the plates under the hood. I even tried a few search queries on the net with no luck.
So, my question is: does anyone know what these figures should be, or does anyone know where I should be able to find this info out?

My reason? I am organsing the Cape Yorker magazine distribution for the Cape and want to make sure that I am not overloading my vehicle on the trip.

I would try Toyota first Ant they should have those sought of specs or QLD department of Transport or you could even throw that question up over at 4wd Action forum, I am sure one of the many enthusists over there should be able to furnish you with the answers you require.

Gross Weight load for a shit-box '87 Sahara is: TWO (2) boxes of magazines and one (1) giant toolbox.

Or so I've heard...

Probably doesn't matter anyway. You'll only be carrying a head full of dreams with you.

Hell, last I heard there was going to be a 2008 edition Cape Yorker. Does that mean it is coming out in 2008 or is being dreamed up in 2008 and delivered in 2009?!! :)

Batesy, Thanks for your assistance on this one! I now have the info I needed. My GVM is 2960. I have to weight my vehicle as it stands so that I get my TARE weight and then the diff between the two is the amount of weight I can legally carry on board.

I have also booked into TJM on Saturday to have a pair of Poly Air Bellows fitted. These will help keep the vehicle sitting nicely on the road and keep the clearance that I will need.

The mag will be back here at the end of next week and I have already started on the 2009 edition.

How about you get back to helping out your wife with the kids and housework you lazy *&^%$#^*.

Why not get a trailer, that wa if the old Toyota falls apart you can get another tow vehicle and keep on going. You wont have to unload or recover your air bags.
