View Full Version : NEW 2008 Cape Yorker- Sneak Peek
Well- I have been fielding calls from all over the country regarding the new edition. It is currently at the printers and I am expecting it to arrive back within the next two weeks. Subscribers will be the first to see the new edition in its entirety.
I will be doing a delivery run into the Cape as soon as I get them back as well. I am expecting to leave Cairns on the 5th of June and spend a week up there madly delivering copies and trying to fit in a little fishing while I am away.
Until then, here is a little sneak peak of a few pages.
I will try to post a few more when I get the time.
These are only low res files so they do not 'clog' the net.
The new edition is 180 pages, full colour gloss (like last edition) and the next one looks like it may go over that limit.

I grabbed the honda generator,GPS,recovery gear, compressor and my lunch box and ran.I looked back and thought those Mickey thompsons are still pretty good and that full tank of fuels worth a lot now days, so I got the fire extingusher ready and disconnected the batteries and saved the old girl. Too many good times had on the cape and bush to let her burn to death. Still got another cape trip left in the tyres. Cant knock the Nissan its been pretty faithful.

Only 2 weeks (approx) to go before the mag is out, I'll be waiting beside the mail box every day until it arrives.
Now let's work that out, 2 weeks = 14 days, allow a couple of days for handling and postage, add 1 for contingencies, add 1 for 'Cape' time, double the first number, then divide by the days in the month, subtract my date of birth, mutiply by the first number and add the square root of 0.52............
OK, so that makes it about the 4th June in my mail box.
WOHOO :)
I think I should get out more.
A bit more news on the 2008 edition. I have managed to secure a pretty interesting subscription deal for next years mag (2009). By subscribing/pre-ordering the 2009 edition, you go into the draw to win one of the following prizes:
1st: PolyCraft 3mtr Tuff Tender (to be picked up from your nearest dealer- they have National distribution)
2nd: Engel 40lt Fridge
3rd: TJM Recovery Kit
4th: Gladiator Snake Skin Sports Rod and Banax Sedna baitcasting reel
Not bad for a subscription of $14.95 eh!
I will have details updated on the site pretty soon as well as the ordering for stickers, shirts, etc.

I'm keen to have a good look through the mag when it arrives.
I'd prefer a free copy since I know how many millions of dollars you're making out of everyone else!

The only way to subscribe right now is by phone and to be honest, I have that much on my plate (and will have till the end of June) that you are best to wait. The new links will be up on the site within the next few weeks.
Proofs came back to me today from the printers.................

Sounds great to hear that everything is coming together nicely.
I had a look at the Capeyorker website this morning and noticed a nice photo of Portlands......at the top of page. Looks Good!!!
The reason I was looking was to see if there is any merchandise cause I am after a hat. I lost big big brimmed bucket hat at Archer on Saturday night. I can't seem to remember much about that night and geez i was crook for the next couple of days.....must have been something in the water.
I guess a hat might be something to look forward to in the future from Capeyorker.
Stacky, I have hats but not wide brimmed ones. Only caps with the Cape Yorker logo on them. I have not had a chance to update the site yet in regards to merchandise- it is on my list.
Get this!
I had to work out freight from Vic to Cairns for some of the Cape Yorker magazines. I thought this would be a pretty simple exercise and that most companies would be similar- WRONG.
My first quote was just over $7,000.00- yep that is not a misprint. Needless to say that the company did not get my business.
My shipment of Cape Yorker mags will be in Cairns by Wednesday (4th June) and subscriptions will go out straight away. I will be leaving Cairns on Thursday (5th June) to do my deliveries into the Cape- I will be going right up into TI and have only a week to do it all. Plus fit in a little fishing........

Do you roll them up like a newspaper and throw them out the window on the way past. Must be a long time between mailboxes up there.
Thats one mail run I could do time and time again.

Car's (almost) packed. Boat is loaded on the KK. Just fuel up and off we go at 6am tomorrow morning.
And the Cape Yorker sticker looks a treat on the front windscreen of the Landcruiser !!
Might just see if I can fit another few lures in.........

1 week to deliver the mags from Cairns to TI :o
I can just imagine the conversation at each drop off, probably go something like this:-
Ant - here
Recipient - thanks
Ant - bye
At least you have allowed for fishing time in your schedule.
