HI Campdog,
I'm still here punching away at the computer.
I got away for a night over easter and fished out of Laura with my little 3mtr PolyCraft. Had a good break and got a few barra too.
When I get a little more time, I will put up a post with some pics.

Hi Guys,
Glad to see some action at last. Been a few viewers, but nobody's had any input for a while, except for Scorcher, with a road up-date. If I missed anyone, forgive me. I've been hanging out for my fix. Hope things pick up soon. Ant, I found a copy of the "Sweetheart" book today. Some fantastic shots in it.
Did you know there is a bush shack for sale in Laura? $100,000. Power and water connected. Verandas all around.
Cheers,
xina.

Good place to live.only a quick drive to Lakefield. Although a 100 grand would give me a lot of fuel to hang around the Cape.

I'm still around.

Just been lurking for a while, as I didn't want to overstay my welcome! I seemed to have jumped up a category pretty quickly - either too many questions, too many stories, or too much time on my hands. Actually all 3 I think!

I'm starting my "Campdog" countdown. Only 8 weeks and a couple of days until heading off on Cape Trip No10. Cars 90% ready, just a few new tyres and 600W inverter to fit, plus a couple of extra Anderson Plugs, and that's done. Just bought a swag a new fishing lures (x49) and extra bit's & pieces of fishing gear. A couple of things to do on the Kimberley Kamper, then sit and wait.

Can't come soon enough!

We definitely will Scorcher. A lot different since last time we were up there in 2002. We have been on the internet and downloaded all the maps with the restrictions. We hope to run out just as we make it to the Restricted area.
All types of regulations are making it more difficult and expensive for travellers to visit the outback. "OOOOOOOOOoooooooops"

And if not, just do what we did. Hide it in the bush, or bury it, and get it on your way out.

For those that like a quiet ale after a hard days playing, a bit of pre-planning of where you are going, and being prepared to drop down to either mid-strength or light beer, can still make it a bearable trip.

Lurking, always lurking.

Spent Easter at a place called Boondooma dam, nice.
Dam was at about 51%, no fish though, water was too dirty.
Had to console myself with a few ales.
Did catch a red claw, only the one though :(

Campdog: sorry to take so long to get back to you on this one. The Tuff Tender is of a similar design to a v-nose punt. I have quickly attached a few pics from the trip.

That would make one great Bass Boat.Bit more room than my old canoe.

xina,
The pics were all taken on 'private' land around Laura. Permission was given to fish the area from the land owners-can't give specifics- sorry.

Campdog-these little 3mtr boats are very under-rated. I will be doing a lot of work with this boat up in the cape this year to really put it through its paces. There will be a feature on the boat in the 2009 edition of the Cape Yorker mag.
Not sure if they are 'croc proof' but will let you know.

Yeah good point Scorcher,
With the workload here at the moment, a croc attack seems like a great way to escape mate. Madly editing articles and finalising layout for the 2008 edition. Can't wait to sit back with a cold beer (or a good straight scotch) and look back on it all.

Back to the grind............

Just saw the pics in you post Ant ... and I was wondering who's the sheila in the first pic?

Also ... did you catch that Gay Terrorist in the fourth pic who was knocking off the barra?

Talk about scaring the fish out of the water. I thought fashion like that could only be seen at a Melbourne Cup luncheon.

Here I am telling people that we're Thoroughbreds up here in the Cape ... and you're doing your best to prove we're Fillies!!
