Okay, as you all know, fishing is my passion!
I am looking at the possibility of getting a limited edition run of 'Cape Yorker' fishing rods. To do this I am going to need to know if any of the forum members are interested as I need to place a fairly large order to get a good price.
Here are the options:
1: 1.65m 6kg baitcaster rod $45.00ea plus postage.
These rods are green in colour, with titanium guides with a fully woven tip. These rods will be more durable than option 2.

2: 1.65m 4 or 6kg baitcaster rod $80.00ea plus postage. This type of rod will usually retail from $150.00 upwards in a tackle shop- they are not cheap in quality.
These rods are a higher modulus graphite (IM6) and are far superior in comparison to option 1, which are of course a lot cheaper. I will only be able to order either the 4kg or the 6kg so I need to know which will be more popular. Blanks are black in colour, Fuji reel seat and titanium guides)

Each rod will be a limited edition run and will carry the Cape Yorker Logo (as seen at the top left of this screen).

Let me know your thoughts. As I said, I do need to order a large quantity to get a good price.

Put me down for 1 Ant probably the 6 kilo option 2 would suit me better but I'll go with what ever the majority rules.

Cheers Dave

Geez, Ant, I hope these rods haven't been jinxed by you. I bet the only fish you've seen for 12 months are the ones on the cover of Fish and Boat.

Anyway, if you can promise that you don't touch them, I'll take two (2) - doesn't matter which rod.

Can I also have a mark etched in mine at the 113cm point with the words - BATESY'S BIG BARRA...? A barra is a fish, by the way. Just in case you've forgotten what one is.

Batesy, you obviously haven't read the last few posts. I have only recently returned from a very profitable fishing trip into the cape (covered in the Feb edition of Fish and Boat) and have another one planned in Jan 2008.

As for the mark on the rod indicating the 113cm barra. I can definitely get that done but will require photographic evidence of the fish before I can go ahead with the order.

By the way: None of these rods will cast a gold bomber lure. They will be made to self ignite when a gold bomber comes within 2 metres.

Come on, Pete... you don't have time for fishing. You should be out doing your civic duty as the elected Weipa Town Authority representative.

I hereby propose that you ask Ant to provide these rods as a give away for all loyal Cape Yorker readers. Anyone second this motion?

God, I love not owning this business ... I reckon I could have a lot of fun causing trouble on this site!! :)

I think that's an excellant idea Ant, I'll have one of the Option 2, probably the 6 kilo outfit.
Will you be giving advice on the best reel to match these rods?
Maybe a rod and reel combo perhaps?

Next question, will these rods be available by August?, I could pick mine up in Cairns, save on postage :)
