Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone can give us some advice on camping in the cape with dogs. We are heading up in about a week and were looking at the camping areas around Combe Point & Bathurst Bay?? They are outside of Lakefield.

We are looking for somewhere to set up camp for a few days... drink some beer, do some fishing?

Anyone got any suggestions, or know if we can actually camp at these places with dogs??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Aren't dogs sort of expected in croc country?

An old bloke once told me you always tie your dog up at night between your camp and the water.

He reckoned if your dog was good, he'd let you know if a croc was about, and if your dog was no good, you'd solved your problem.........................

Yeah, my dog will be sleeping in her kennel... we just want to know where we are permitted to set up camp with her, as they are not allowed in the national park.

Does anyone know if you can camp with dogs at Black Gun Waterhole?

Sorry Krystle, I haven't been over to Bathurst Bay so can't really comment on this one. I'm sure a ton of people take their dogs over there, but it might be worth checking out the current situation with the QPWS in Cooktown 4069 5777 or Lakefield 4060 3260. It's always good to have a chat with these guys who are on the ground just to find out what's happening.

Be careful, you might develop that nasty K9 habit of licking your ba**s.

Its not a habbit, dogs do it because they can.Didnt you know thats why man was created with an extra rib. (so they couldnt do it).
