Met this bloke at the tip, he was on the first leg of his "round Australia trip".
His plan was to cycle right round Aust., it had taken him 3.5 months to get to the tip from Sydney.
He was going to catch the barge back to Cairns then cycle over to Darwin.

This was taken on one of the tracks near Bamaga airport, the tree wasn't there when we came in.
It had only recently fallen, we found a way around it.

Bogged in Weipa. Ha where was batesy when this was happening... It's about that time you would expect him to spring out from behind a tree with camera in hand.

Hey, these are great pics fellas. I don't know how come I've missed seeing them (maybe because I haven't looked at the site for a while!).

Will have to have a look later, bit busy now with that four letter word "work", but as I remember we weren't there for very long before being spoken to very abruptly and rudely by some jumped up ex Vietnam dickhead. I have a lot of time for ex serviceman but as in every group there is always one that is a tosser.

I'm not real sure either Campdog, after tavelling a few K's past the crossing we came upon the Kalpower homestead, there was a unsigned intersection branching off several different ways and when we tried to do some exploring we were stopped by a jumped up tosser and told if we were not Vietnam Vets to get out of the place, there had been no signs what so ever telling us not to be there. As we were only there for a look around and not wanting to travel through we just went back to the campground on the other side of the crossing which by the way is an excellent campground with cold showers and toilets.

Kalpower campground is a nice little spot stayed there for two nights on the way back down found the showers there to be quite refreshing after a day of driving and it was good spot to just lounge around for a few days before the trip down to Cooktown.
