G'day All,
Now here is a difficult one, and yes, I'm aware all answers (assuming there will be some) are subjective.

When at the Tip where do you prefer to camp and why?
Punsand Bay, Seisia, Loyalty Beach, Umagico, Somerset Ruins or other?

I need help, I can't make a decision :?

Thanks Coza,
I did consider (for a nanosecond not true) putting off my trip until your return but decided I will still go in August.
91 days to go

Thanks anyway.

What date are you coming home Nedly, may cross paths. I think I'm leaving Cairns about the 30th of August.

It saddens me to think ahead that far, but by the 30th Aug I will be back doing battle in Bris.
Will actually be arriving back on or about 25th Aug., unless I can find some well paying job as a field reporter for a local magazine ;) (Batesy).
I'll have to wait for the offers to start coming in.

Yeah, the pay is excellent with Cape Yorker Magazine... and all food (baked beans) and lodging (tent) is taken care of.

We pay on time every month as well ... unfortunately all our long term correspondents are still out bush with no access to their banking details... so they won't be able to confirm this.

Resumes should be forwarded to:

I have only stayed at Punsand bay a couple of times and its a great spot with all the ammenities. Looked at seisha but a bit packed out when we were there and too much like a busy caravan park.heard Loyalty beach is a great spot as well. Sumerset ruins are great but only a couple of sites and no ammenities and bring your own water, also very busy with tourists,
Dont forget your ferry fee allows you to camp at Muttee Heads and on the banks of Jardine (nth side where the tele line crossed) and also on the Jardine River Mouth 5ks from Muttee Heads.
Bamaga has a laundramat and cheaper to do your washing there , bmaga has a great Bakery and great pies and bread.
I liked Punsand Bay because it has beautiful beaches and a great meals.
Not far from the tip and I caught fish on the rocks down the beach, barra and coral trout. A good base camp to explore the area.

When you walk onth the beach at punsand bay, look to your left and down the beach about 300m you will see a rocky point, fish there on the run in / out tide and use squidgies and i got barra, coral trout,gt and queenies one arvo.

We have never had trouble getting a spot, not always the best spot.but all are good. Normally someone coming or going all the time.Saturday night is fish night so the restrant has a seafood night and its great.
try to get there fairly early to avid the rush in the arvo.

I stayed at Punsand bay back in 98 loved it there we were fishing off that very beach at night time using squid as bait kept catching small sharks damn things were annoying. They were fun though, I think I'll stay there again when I next get up that way. We didn't book ahead either we just turned up and got a great spot right there on the water.

Thanks Campdog,
I had decided that Punsand is the place to stay.
The lure of the beach and the beach run to the Tip seemed to good to pass.
Have also been told the TI ferry will pick up passengers from Punsand.
It all sounded to good.

There you go Nedly ... you finally got the answer to that old question!

Jackie and John are the people that run Punsand - they're a lovely couple.

If you are staying for any length of time, do yourself a favour and enquire early about the Seafood night.

Don't forget to grab a drink and sit on the beach at sunset. Top spot.

We will definately be checking the seafood night, though I think it is on a Saturday, right?
We will be arriving on a Tues and leaving Sat morning, we'll see.

Beach, chair, drink, fishing rod.
Yeah, that sounds right.
A foot massage would be good too, though I'm sure she would object to that.
