Hi All,
I just bought the 2000W generator Aldi has on special (starting today).
I was a bit dubious about it but thought at $299 it was worth a try.

Well I just fired it up and must admit I'm pleasantly surprised! It is a bit noisey at 93dB, but it has plenty of grunt. It's powered by a 6.5HP 4 stroke and has motor start of 2.2kW. It started and runs my Coleman roof top air conditioner with no problems at all, and in fact it also powers the HWS as well! It has 2 x 15A outlets + an 8.5A 12VDC outlet (I assume unregulated) and appears to be quite an acceptable product.
Now that I'm happy with it, my mate and I will tinker with the muffler to see if we can't reduce the noise a bit!
I've powered up all my vans electrics, with no problems. Happily runs microwave, all the electronics including LCD TV, and the Setec power supply. I loaded and unloaded it a bit, and bogged it right down but the circuit breaker trips before stalling the engine. The AVR (automatic voltage regulator) seems to handle changes well and promptly but I don't have a CRO so unfortunately no comment on waveshape. It's also heavy!
