Hi All,

I just bought the 2000W generator Aldi has on special (starting today).
I was a bit dubious about it but thought at $299 it was worth a try.

228

Well I just fired it up and must admit I'm pleasantly surprised! It is a bit noisey at 93dB, but it has plenty of grunt. It's powered by a 6.5HP 4 stroke and has motor start of 2.2kW. It started and runs my Coleman roof top air conditioner with no problems at all, and in fact it also powers the HWS as well! It has 2 x 15A outlets + an 8.5A 12VDC outlet (I assume unregulated) and appears to be quite an acceptable product.

Now that I'm happy with it, my mate and I will tinker with the muffler to see if we can't reduce the noise a bit!

I've powered up all my vans electrics, with no problems. Happily runs microwave, all the electronics including LCD TV, and the Setec power supply. I loaded and unloaded it a bit, and bogged it right down but the circuit breaker trips before stalling the engine. The AVR (automatic voltage regulator) seems to handle changes well and promptly but I don't have a CRO so unfortunately no comment on waveshape. It's also heavy!

Yeah I don't think 200w will power much but good to hear people getting a bargain it sounds like a goer.

I had a few of the cheapies but the noise and fuel concumption got the better of me. Ended up buying a Honda eu10i because it fits behind the back seat of the patrol and only uses 2.5 litres per 10hrs of running. If I had a ute I probably would have stuck to the cheapies.
