LATEST NEWS!!!!
I might be going to cape next year again earlier in the season probably April to do the OTL. I want to snag it open when I get there. Probably be open well and truly before then but they might just get a late wet.

Go to vrilya point or pennyfeather for about a week. 1 week to go up 1 week there and 1 week back.

Here's hoping.

Thats if I have enough funds to finance the trip and convert my trailer to a camper. If not definetly following year.

The tele track was impassable on ANzac day this year, so you might get some extreme 4wdriving in.

I don't know what my timing will be next year but the good thing is that I only take one week off to get 3 weeks so thats gotta be a bonus.

I am the same a Googy as well, I work 4 days on 4 days off, I take 4 off and end up having 12 days off on that roster I only work 5 and half months a year it's a pretty sweet deal.
I wouldn't mind doing the 5 months straight then kicking back for the rest of the year the travelling I could do then.

Just be ready with a snatch strap and we will get you there in 2 and a half days.
First stop Townsville , 2nd at Archer River and the next morning to Virilya, dont even need a tent or cam trailer, just a stretcher on the ground for a few hours.

3 days to Viryla is a HUGE effort.I was thinking more 5 or 6 including the OTL.You can't go pass falls with out going in.

Depends on what your target is.If its a fishing only trip its 3 days and the tele track is usually impassable then , especially with a boat on behind. If you wanted to do the tele track early may you might need more than 6 days and a lot of time shovelling and making tracks around fallen trees etc.

Our fishing trip this year was something like
Day 1 - Bonny Hills to Yepoon - 4.00 am - 6.0pm
Day 2 - Yepoon - Mareeba,Lakeland, blouw out at Haan River - 4.am - Midnight.

Day 3 - Haan River- Coen, fix tyre- Virilya Point (road building) 6.am -6.pm
Easy done.

Things are looking grim for a Cape trip next year. Fishing mate wants to go to Northern Territory,Mrs wants to go to Cook islands. Been diping into the annual leave a bit lately so I could be grounded.Works a bit quiet so Ill probably have to take leave over christmas. Ill just have to wait and see.

Gday Fellas,
Long time no talk, Have been very busy with work since I got back from cape. I am hoping to continue working hard through to May next year and I will definetly go away again somewere. I will most definetly go to the cape but not go all the way again. When I look back on the trip it was awsome but didn't do much relaxing. Next one will definetly be relaxing with more fishing and more off the beaten track 4wding. Love to go back to the falls and as far as Vrilya Point.

Hi Yoyo, Im thinking of doing a bit of barra fishing at one of your great dams. my mate has a house at Cooloola cove and might plan an extra long weekend with him on a dam. Not the Cape but would be a good time.
