View Full Version : Where's the Cape start?

Just out of interest, can anyone tell me where the Cape locals generally regard as the start of the Cape?

By looking on the map, I'd guess that a line from say about Middle Point in the gulf across to Kurrimine Beach would have it "officially" but do locals class the Cape as something different.....the Savannah Way perhaps, or further north - Cooktown to Kowanyama maybe?

What's your take on it?

G'day Swanning_it,

Strictly speaking it would be Cooktown to Kowanyama.

We try not to let those boundaries constrain the stories we put in the magazine however.

We'll even be putting more Gulf Savannah stuff in next time.

Were fuel is 40 cents more than what you are used to paying. Or when the corrigation starts. Which ever comes first

For me it starts as soon as I hit the dirt, either the bloomfield track or at Lakeland. But I wish it started at my front door.
I think the early explorers started at Cardwell.

Hey yoyo. Im sure Googy is right,Tweed Heads Heading south, the roads are rougher and the fuel price goes up as soon as you cross the border into NSW

This has got nothing to do with the cape but last year I went to gold coast and went fishing at tweed heads. Took small packet of prawns no bucket and caught heaps of fish. It went off like seisa. The next day went all prepared with lures, bait frozen and fresh and buckets and NOTHING. same spot same tide UNBELEIVABLE
