wtf is that thing?
Funny thing is I used to paddle a ski every day before I moved to Weipa. I tried it once up there and decided that it was not a good idea. havent' had the chance to get it wet again since moving to Cairns.
In all seriousness, that dude is pretty amazing-have you seen the size of some of the sharks and crocs in the Islands up there?

Ive been following his trip and looks like he is on Thursday Island at the moment.I have half expected to see Yoyo and Riley in a photo with him.I wouldnt mind doing a trip like that, but Ill think ill do it in a big tinnie witn an out board. Maybe cairns to Weipa.
I took a canoe to the Cape and the Archer river was the only time it came off the trailer.

Hey, Sam... Maybe next easter you can take along a revolver with one bullet - just spin the chamber, hold it to your head and pull the trigger.
You can't see the bullet in most of the holes ... but I can guarentee one will eventually find you!!
I can just see you sitting on top of a tyre tube ... to a croc you must look like an Appetizer ... "Ham of Sam".

I think that a tyre tube trip from New Zealand to Australia should be compulsory to get here.

Campdog, If you are serious about doing a trip like this then let me know. I have been planning one for over a year now and looks like it may come off. I am planning to go from Cairns to Karumba. From there, I will put the boat back on a tralier and tow it back to Cairns. Have to do it later in the year when the doldrums hit- probably around nov/dec/jan depending on weather.

How long do you think it would take to do a trip like that, what sort of cost involved. What year are you planning.Ive got plans to do a lot of things just depends on time and money.
Campdog, I would allow a month to do the trip. As for budget, a lot of it will be through sponsorship but allow $100.00/day to cover it easily.
As for time, it will have to be in 2008.
