question for any-one, i have a jittery wife who is a little concerned with crocs while out in the boat, if i put the boat in at the rocky point ramp will she b ok, are the hey embley, mission rivers close to wiepa, also do you need flares, and epirbs, for inland lakes and esturies, and i read you dont need fishing permits in qld ( is this correct, umm not sure myself. Where else is ok so i can put the boat in so i can get SOME fishing done LOL.

I have been thinking about this stuff as well I plan to take some flares along cheap insurance incase your motor brakes down or your in trouble offshore easy to get attentuion with a big orange smoke flare going off. Might buy an epirb as well just 2 be extra sure, for the sake of a couple of hundred bucks I would rather have the piece of mind knowing I could raise some help if something went wrong.

I was a bit concerned at Virilya Point as well this year, we had all the safety gear but no epirb or sat phone, a couple of days we were 15 - 20ks out,I would be asking around weipa hat uhf channel to use as im sure there is quiet a bit of boat ativity aroud this time of year.
As far as crocs go, being alert is the main thing and knowing that they are there. When camping near the river not knowing what the last campers done,ie cleaning fish or throwing scraps into the river which could have attracted them to the area.

I know a few people that have givien the odd saltie bit of a touch up with an ore up top of W.A when they have gotten to close to the boat, they got the message and buggered off although they have been known to attack boats and outboards when they are running. I know the best fix 4 em.

Cookie if you fall out of a boat, you dont have to swim very fast.Just swim faster than the other person with you.
